Micah Mission Lompoc

Micah Mission Lompoc At Micah Mission, we believe everyone is on a journey. Whatever your story, you are not alone. Here, all are seen, valued, and empowered.

We walk alongside you with compassion, dignity, and practical support—because no one should face hardship alone. Micah Mission endeavors to answer the call of Micah 6:8 by working relationally and collaboratively to identify and meet the needs of the homeless and marginalized of the Lompoc area by:
… doing justice… through education, dialogue, and advocacy
… loving kindness… by building relationsh

ips and compassionately serving the homeless and marginalized
… walking humbly with God… by providing opportunities for the spiritual growth of those we serve, those who serve, and those we collaborate with.

The power is ours. So is the responsibility.

Everyone is talking about who holds the power. But maybe we’ve forgotten three important words: We the People. Government has authority, but we have a responsibility - to vote, speak, question, participate, and hold power accountable. Maybe it’s time we stopped watching from the sidelines and re...

Day 10: A Specific Place to Begin

After 10 days of questions, here is one possible starting point: Convene a countywide Emergency Housing Voucher summit and produce a public action plan within 30 days.

That plan should tell us:
- How many households remain at risk
- Which housing authority serves each household
- What transition pathway exists for every family
- What funding and service gaps remain
- How government and community partners can help
- Who is responsible for each next step
- When affected residents will receive clear answers

This will not solve every housing problem in Santa Barbara County. But it would replace fragmented information with a shared picture and turn concern into coordinated action.

People do not need another general promise that everyone is working on it. They need to know what happens next.

Who is willing to help bring this table together?

This reflection concludes a 10-day PB Reflects series about Emergency Housing Vouchers, housing stability, and our countywide response.
The purpose has not been to assign simplistic blame. It has been to ask what we can do now, what we can learn for the future, and how we can come alongside the individuals and families affected.

Read and share the complete article, “Housing Voucher Is Someone’s Front Door”: https://pbreflects.com/a-housing-voucher-is-someones-front-door/

What question should continue to be part of this conversation - and what solution are we prepared to explore together?
