Join us this Saturday as we kick off another exciting season of Lombard's Cruise Nights & Summer Concerts presented by Tommy's Express Car Wash. Enjoy classic cars and live music from Karla & the Phat Cats. These free, family-friendly events are a great way to start the weekend! This week's Kids' Corner, sponsored by Keeley's Plumbing Company and Christopher B. Burke Engineering, Ltd., features Creeping Critters from 6 to 8 p.m. Children will have the chance to get up close with snakes, lizards and other fascinating reptiles.

The Village and Lombard Police Department look forward to welcoming residents and visitors to downtown Lombard for these events. Additional police officers will be present throughout the evening to help ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for everyone. As a reminder, disorderly conduct, criminal activity and behavior that disrupts the event or impacts public safety will not be tolerated and may result in enforcement action.

☔ Please note that there is a chance of showers and thunderstorms on Saturday evening. While light rain will not result in cancellation, severe weather or unsafe conditions may lead to delays or cancellation of the event. Storm Cleanup Update: Following yesterday's storms, Lombard Public Works crews responded to reports of downed trees and limbs throughout the community. Damage was limited, with impacts reported at 13 locations.

If you notice damage to a parkway tree or debris in a public area, please submit a request through SeeClickFix at www.villageoflombard.org/290/Concern or by using the mobile app. In accordance with Village policy, residents with storm debris on private property should contact a landscaper or utilize the Village's weekly curbside yard waste collection program, following applicable collection guidelines.

The Village's contractor, John Neri Construction, will be repairing a sewer main on E. St. Charles Road between N. Ahrens Avenue and Westmore-Meyers Road beginning at approximately 7 a.m. today. Work is expected to continue through the end of the day on Friday, June 12, weather permitting.

To accommodate the repair, traffic through the work zone will be reduced to one lane in each direction, with all vehicles traveling in the eastbound lanes.

Drivers should expect delays, slow down when traveling through the area and use caution near workers and equipment. Thank you for your patience as crews complete this necessary repair.

Did you know? The Village's Noise Ordinance helps balance the needs of residents, businesses, construction activity and community events while protecting neighborhood quality of life.

The ordinance addresses excessive noise from sources such as loud parties, commercial equipment, construction activity outside permitted hours and vehicles with modified exhaust systems or other alterations that create excessive noise. Construction, landscaping and similar outdoor activities involving power equipment are prohibited near residential properties from 8 p.m. to 7 a.m. Monday through Friday and from 8 p.m. to 8 a.m. on weekends.

If you are experiencing an active noise disturbance and would like an officer to respond, please call 9-1-1.

Did you know that 1 blood donation can save up to 3 lives? Help save a life at Lombard's Summer Blood Drive TODAY, June 9th, in honor of World Blood Donor Day!

To make donating as convenient as possible, the blood drive will be offered at two locations: at the lower level of Yorktown Shopping Center, outside Von Maur, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., and at the First Church of Lombard Fellowship Hall, 220 S. Main St., from 1:30 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Public Works crews are scheduled to replace a water valve in the 300 block of E. Madison Street on Wednesday, June 10, weather permitting. Beginning at approximately 7:30 a.m., Madison Street will be closed in both directions between Stewart Avenue and Grace Street. Stewart Avenue will also be closed between Morningside Avenue and Madison Street. Residents who live within the closure area will continue to have access to their homes.

A detour will be posted via Craig Place, Morningside Avenue and Grace Street. Residents who will be impacted by a temporary water shutoff have been notified.

Please use caution when traveling through the area, follow posted detours and slow down to help keep motorists, residents and crews safe. An update will be shared once the work is complete and the roadway has reopened.

UPDATE - 4:02 PM: The on-scene investigation has been completed, and the increased police presence in the area has concluded.

The Lombard Police Department's investigation has confirmed that this incident was a domestic related homicide. Investigators identified the suspected offender, who was located deceased outside of Lombard. Based on the evidence collected, investigators do not believe any other individuals were involved.

ORIGINAL POST: The Lombard Police Department is currently investigating a homicide that occurred during the overnight hours in a residential building in the Yorktown area. Preliminary information indicates this may have been a domestic-related incident and there is no ongoing threat to public safety.

Residents may notice an increased police presence in the area as detectives continue their investigation. Because this is an active investigation, no additional information is being released at this time. Further updates will be provided when appropriate.
