Lt. Helton Memorial Foundation, Inc.

Lt. Helton Memorial Foundation, Inc. The Lt. Helton Memorial Foundation, Inc. is a 501(c)3 organization. The Foundation was created following the death of 1LT Joseph D. Helton, Jr.

in 2009 by an IED while on a mission in Iraq. The initial and immediate mission of the Foundation is to establish a memorial to honor those veterans of both the Iraq and the Afghanistan wars. Monroe city officials have notified the Foundation that a section of the Courthouse Square has been set aside designated for the memorial. The Foundation is working with an Artist Michael Garmon of Colorado w

here Helton Attended the Air Force Academy to render an appropriate memorial. Once completed, the Foundation will continue its support in Walton County with a scholarship program to be coordinated with the AFJROTC program at the High School. Helton was an active participant during all four of his years at Monroe Area Comprehensive High School, and would always visit the current class when in town, sharing his experience with the hopes to inspire others to achieve. The Foundation wishes to give back to the community by continuing Helton's effort to inspire students and young adults to dream and achieve. We are deeply appreciative of any support you are able to give us. Thank you for helping to let our veterans and their families know we appreciate their sacrifices and that we will never forget. With Sincere Appreciation,

Looking for an experience? Join me in the Dacula Memorial Day parade to carry a sign of a Georgia Fallen. Must be able to walk a couple of miles holding a sign, dress respectfully comfortable, and wear sneakers (not flip flops). We are usually done before lunch. PM me if interested. It’s an experience you will never forget.

An amazing day for a reunion of old friends, meeting of new friends, and hopefully some moments of much needed healing.
