Thank you to the Lima American Legion Post 282 for their continued commitment to the Lima community and to Mark Tubbs Park specifically

Last night, Commander Anthony Gaiter had the honor of presenting a $2,000 check to the Village Board to help replace the roof on the Veterans Gazebo at Mark Tubbs Park. Accepting the check, Mayor John Skiptunas shared very kind words about the Lima American Legion Family and the impact our members continue to have in supporting both veterans and the community. From the work of the American Legion, Sons of the American Legion, and the American Legion Auxiliary, to innovative programs like Regiment 282 focused on combating veteran su***de, it was an honor to see the entire Legion Family recognized for its efforts.

This contribution represents what happens when the Legion Family comes together. With support split evenly between the American Legion, Sons of the American Legion, and the American Legion Auxiliary, we were proud to help make this project possible and give back to the community that supports us. We are also grateful to Brian Smith, who worked with us along the way to help bring this opportunity to light.

As the warmer weather arrives, we are also planning to completely restain the gazebo to ensure it continues to look great and lasts for many years for the community to enjoy.

We stand shoulder to shoulder with our community and are proud to do so every single day. Our mission to serve veterans never stops, and neither does our mission to serve Lima.

We are deeply grateful for the community’s continued support and look forward to continuing this work together. 🇺🇸

Even during the Winter there is plenty of activity at Mark Tubbs Park.

The gazebos are being prepared for new metal roofs.

Thank you to Ben Luft and the Village DPW for stripping the old cedar shakes. Thank you Stephen Werner for preparation and working with the roofing contractor.

Thank you to all at the Lima American Legion Post 282 for donating $2000 to reroof the American Legion gazebo. They will be out in the Spring to stain and make minor repairs.

The Jack Tubbs gazebo is also being renovated.

As soon as there is a break in the Winter weather, the new metal roofs will be put on with an expectation of a single days work.

Continue to enjoy the park trails and facilities.

Thank you to American Legion 282 Commander Anthony Gaiter for replacing the flag at Mark Tubbs Park this afternoon.
The Veterans Way and the Legion Pavilion are at the park to honor those who served.

There is also a new sign in front of the flag and at the Town Hall from the Livingston County Su***de Prevention Task Force. Livingston County has the highest rate of Veteran Su***de in New York.

Parks Commission Update, 9/17/2025.

The Electrical upgrade project at Mark Tubbs Park is nearly completed. There are still a few areas that require caution.

Special Thanks to the Lima Pumpkin Festival Committee for a donation of $10,000 to offset the total cost of the electrical project.

Two additional commercial grade picnic tables have been purchased and placed at the new pavilion on Bluebird Trail by the Dog Park.
A special thank you to the Lima Civil War Reenactment committee and Cannons for Kannon for $1500 to purchase one table.

Thank you to Steve and Denise Werner for planting Mums and Sun flowers in preparation for the Pumpkin Festival.

Mark Tubbs Park has been since it's inception, a model of citizens donating time, talents and efforts to create a place where Lima shines.
