For America’s 250th birthday, we need to focus on honesty. Telling stories that are not just good or bad, but honest. And as we celebrate 250 years of legacy, we need to look to the future and think about how we will shape the legacy that we leave behind.

Happy Loving Day, y’all!

Though we still have a long way to go to reach true racial and civil rights equality, we still have wins to celebrate. But just because some of us have lived our whole lives not knowing that certain types of love were forbidden, doesn’t mean that we should forget where we came from. It was only 59 years ago today that the right to in*******al marriage in America was secured by the courts.

Magee's played a big role in my childhood. Birthdays weren't really a party without that indulgently rich buttercream and pillowy soft cake. I exported the flavor of Kentucky through tea cookies and transparent tarts from DC to New York. Weekends were made a little sweeter and richer with a fluffy glazed donut, cream cheese danish, and country ham biscuit.

My grandparents lived in Mrs. Magee's home on Hillcrest in Maysville. I think her spirit made my Mimi's signature white cake a little more special. See, Magee's Bakery began in Maysville, Kentucky where my Mom grew up and I was raised visiting. We would often pop into the little downtown shop for an iced cookie or transparent pie. And those cream horns? My what an indulgence well worth every single bite.

For me, Magee's tastes like Kentucky. I am beyond thrilled that they are coming back. I will certainly be one of the first in line to welcome them back to Lexington. My Mom has already requested that I put in a special cake order for her birthday this fall. I know no better way to celebrate.

The owner shares details on the reopening of popular and longtime bakery Magee’s.

Lexington! Come out and meet with Council Member Tyler Morton - Lexington's 1st District at the Lyric Theater & Cultural Arts Center to discuss data centers in our community.

I will be there along with many other local leaders. Come and learn, ask questions, and have your voice heard. The Lexington-Fayette Urban County Council just passed a historic moratorium through October 31. The other part of this resolution includes an amendment to zoning for data centers to be more in line with modern systems. Council members like Mr. Morton are eager to learn more from their constituents to inform better policy.

Want to see this guy tomorrow AND make some noise to Flip the 6th?!

Then come to The Burl tomorrow at 11:30am for a rally for Zach Dembo for Congress featuring the one and only Governor Andy Beshear. It’s our first time in over a decade that this seat is actually in play. So let’s show up!

Plus you can hang with me and your favorite Dems from across the district. đź’™
