🐾 MONDAY STAFF SPOTLIGHT 💙⚪

Happy Labor Day, Leopard Family! To kick off our week with joy and celebrate our amazing team, today we are featuring our wonderful 2nd Grade Teacher, Mrs. Lyons! 🐆✨

💼 Position: 2nd Grade Teacher (2 years at Lansdowne • 6 years teaching)
📍 Birthplace: Long Branch, NJ
🔬 Favorite Subject: Science! (When I was in elementary school, I begged to go to science class every day and even helped the teacher during recess!)

🌟 Favorite Part of the Job: I love teaching students that they can persevere through hard things. When we finally make it to the end of something difficult we celebrate together! 🎉

💡 Inspiration for Teaching: I love getting to teach kids to be nice humans. Also kids are so funny and way more fun to be around than adults. I love getting to spend my day with my 7 year old besties. 😊

👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Fun Fact: I'm the oldest of 5 kids and the mom of 6. It means our family gatherings are large and loud and so fun!

⚽ Hobbies & Free Time: I love hanging out with my kids and my husband. I enjoy reading and quilting when I have time. I spend my weekends at my kids soccer games. 🧵📚

We are so grateful for Mrs. Lyons' heart, energy, and dedication to our Lansdowne Leopards! 💙⚪

Sweet treats, garden-fresh cantaloupe, and a good book under the shade... name a better Friday! 🍦🍈📖
Caught Mrs. Lyons’ and Mrs. Schum’s classes taking the ultimate sweet break outside near the Lansdowne garden today. Seeing our students enjoying fresh fruit grown right on campus and reading together with friends was the absolute best way to finish out the week.☀️🌿

A huge, heartfelt thank you to the new 7 Brew Coffeeon Clays Mill for keeping our staff hydrated, caffeinated, and smiling! It was a delightful treat this week!

Do yourselves a favor and swing by their new location to try a drink (or three)—they are officially our favorite new neighbors!

Sunny weather, big smiles, and lots of learning! ☀️

🌿 Yesterday’s field trip to the Arboretum Children’s Garden was an absolute blast. Our 1st graders were total troopers in the heat—exploring, playing hard, discovering how plants grow, learning about our Kentucky habitats, and leaving with seeds to plant at home! 🌱
Seeing their giant smiles made every degree worth it. A huge thank you to our teachers, paras, and parents who worked together to keep everyone safe, happy, and hydrated! 💧

🏫 Our students are starting the school year off strong in SEL! 🌟
This month in Ms. Fletcher’s Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) class, students have been busy learning how to navigate their emotions, build community, and protect their mental well-being.
Here is a look at what they’ve been working on:

• 🤝 Building Relationship Skills: Practicing teamwork, active listening, and positive communication.
• ✨ Finding "Glimmers": Learning to spot those micro-moments of joy, safety, and calm in daily life (the opposite of triggers!).
• 💪 Tapping into Sources of Strength: Identifying their personal support networks—like positive friends, family, mentors, and healthy activities.
💬 Bring the conversation home!
Ask your student tonight: “What is one 'glimmer' you noticed today?” or “What are your top sources of strength right now?”

We love seeing our students build these life-long skills for resilience and connection! ❤️

The best learning happens when we explore the world around us! 🍃

Mrs. Lyon’s 2nd-grade class took their habitat unit outdoors. Our little scientists used all their senses to investigate the environment, gather evidence, and observe nature up close. Look at how focused and engaged they were! We are so proud of their curiosity! 🕵️‍♂️🌾

🎉 Leopard Bucks in Action! 🐆✨

Ms. Brown’s Kindergarten class had the BEST time celebrating their Leopard Buck Party! 🐾 These rockstar readers took their books outdoors for some sunny read-aloud time 📖☀️, and then... it was time to move and groove! 🕺💃
Our sweet kinders learned two iconic classics: "Shake Your Tail Feather" by The Blues Brothers and "The Twist" by Chubby Checker! 🎶 The dance floor (and playground!) was full of giggles, spins, and awesome moves.

We are so proud of these hard workers. Keep earning those Leopard Bucks by being Safe, Responsible, and Respectful!

🌟 Keep it up, Leopards! 🐆💛
