Prayers for the Lexington officer shot tonight.

UPDATE 9/09/22: At around 10:43 p.m. on September 8, 2022, officers were dispatched to the Extended Stay America in the 3500 block of Tates Creek Road. When officers attempted to make contact with the suspect, the suspect fired a gun at the officers and the officers returned gun fire. A Lexington Police officer was shot and was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The suspect was transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries and was later pronounced deceased.

Additional updates will be released later this morning about the shooting. KSP is investigating.

A Lexington Police officer has been shot while responding to a call in the 3500 block of Tates Creek Road. The officer has been transported to a local hospital and is in stable condition. This is still an active investigation, and please expect a high police presence in the area.

Eastland Hills Apartments on Jennifer Rd.

Two Lexington Police officers have been involved in an on-duty shooting.

Around 9:20 p.m. on Thursday, September 1, 2022, officers were dispatched to the 1700 block of Jennifer Road for an occupied stolen vehicle that reportedly contained a firearm.

When officers arrived, they made contact with the driver, who did not comply with verbal commands. The driver then produced a firearm and pointed it at an officer. Officers fired their weapons, striking the driver.

The driver sustained reported non-life-threatening injuries and was treated on the scene by Lexington Police officers and other emergency personnel before being transported to a local hospital. The officers were uninjured.

In accordance with Lexington Police Department policies, the officers had their issued Body Worn Cameras activated. The incident is being investigated by the Kentucky State Police Critical Incident Response Team, and the department's Public Integrity Unit will conduct an internal review of the incident. The officers will be placed on administrative assignment pending the outcome of the investigation.

The Lexington Police Department is investigating three separate shootings that occurred overnight and into the early morning hours of August 27, 2022.

Around 1:48 a.m., officers responded to Wild Health Field, where a private event was being held, for the report of shots fired. When they arrived, they located two female victims suffering from gunshots and multiple shell casings. During the investigation, five additional victims (2 male and 3 female) arrived at local hospitals suffering from gunshots. All injuries are reported as non-life-threatening.

At 2:28 a.m., officers responded to the 400 block of Oak Street for a victim who had been shot. When they arrived, they located a female victim suffering from a gunshot wound. The victim was transported to the hospital with reported non-life-threatening injuries.

Officers were dispatched at 6:12 a.m. to the 1100 block of Briarwood Circle for the report of shots fired. When they arrived, they located a female victim suffering from a gunshot. The victim was transported to the hospital with reported non-life-threatening injuries.

Tonight (08/13/22), around 8:00 p.m., officers responded to the 1300 block of Centre Parkway for a report of a shooting with a victim. The suspect fled the scene before officers arrived, and a male victim was transported to a local hospital.

As the investigation continues, there will be a heavy police presence in the area.
