Oglethorpe County School System Residency Verification

The Oglethorpe County School System will once again conduct a residency verification process for students entering kindergarten, 3rd grade, 6th grade, and 9th grade for the upcoming school year.

Students entering these grade levels must provide updated proof of residency prior to the start of school in August. Residency verification must be completed before students can be assigned to a homeroom or receive class schedules.

Traditionally, proof of residency has only been collected when a student first enrolls in kindergarten or transfers into our school system. As responsible stewards of taxpayer resources, we believe it is important to verify residency periodically throughout a student's educational career. This process helps ensure that local tax dollars are used to serve Oglethorpe County residents and students who appropriately pay tuition.

We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and appreciate your cooperation and understanding.

Acceptable Proof of Residency
Please provide one of the following documents:
• Current mortgage statement
• Current lease or rental agreement (subject to verification)
• Current utility bill (electric, gas, or water only)

Residency Affidavit
If you do not have one of the documents listed above, please call 706-743-8128 in July to schedule an appointment to review residency affidavit requirements and complete the necessary paperwork. Please note that residency affidavits are valid for one year only.

How to Submit Your Documentation
Proof of residency may be:
• Dropped off at your child's school anytime before June 9 or after July 20, or
• Submitted anytime electronically using the appropriate link below.

Important: If you have children in multiple grade levels requiring verification, please complete a separate form for each child, as submissions are routed to different schools.
