LCRP members helped give California Gov. Gavin Newsom a Southern welcome Friday as he traveled through West Columbia fundraising for Democrats and testing the waters for a potential presidential run.

One of our young party members, Isaiah, is a recent California refugee who lived under Newsom’s 2020 lockdowns. The Washington Examiner interviewed Isaiah, and he did a tremendous job. Articulate, grounded, and intelligent, Isaiah represents exactly the kind of young leadership that gives us confidence now and in the future of the Republican Party.

We’re proud to have him on our team!

Mike Burkhold For SC Comptroller General publishes a weekly look at where the state's money actually goes, with every piece built on a public audit anyone can pull up and read.

His latest: In 2020 the Legislative Audit Council gave the state's business incentive agencies thirty-nine written fixes. In 2024 the auditors went back and counted. Seventeen were done, and fourteen were never done, and the fourteen share one trait: every fix that would have checked whether the promised jobs are real is among them. The piece gives the agencies fair credit for what they did fix, quotes their written answers on what they declined, and explains the arrangement underneath: an audit finding in South Carolina creates no duty for anyone, so the penalty for ignoring a state audit is a second audit.

It is a plain-spoken read, and it is free: https://count.burkhold.net/p/the-second-inspection
