We were honored to join the Interfaith Alliance of the Bluegrass for a special remembrance service ahead of the 25th anniversary of the September 11 attacks, hosted by Central Baptist Church. 🕊️

It was deeply moving to stand alongside neighbors of many faiths in memory of the lives lost that day. A special highlight was hearing Mary Berry, Executive Director of The Berry Center, read her father Wendell Berry’s renowned essay “Thoughts in the Presence of Fear,” first published in Orion Magazine — words that feel as timely today as when they were written.

Gratitude to the Interfaith Alliance of the Bluegrass and Central Baptist Church for creating a space for reflection, unity, and community. Moments like these remind us of what makes Lexington home.

Thank you to our partners at the Bluegrass Community Health Center (Bluegrass Community Health Center ) who joined our English language class with targeted supports for Spanish speakers to provide health screenings including blood pressure, A1C, and vital checks to class participants.

Did you know that there’s a fully staffed clinic with medical and mental health providers right next door to us? They do a lot of incredible work in our community. How cool is that!

The DiverCity Festival, one of Lexington's most vibrant community celebrations, returns Saturday, August 29, from noon to 7 p.m. This year the festival moves to a new home: Oliver Lewis Way between Scott Street and Freedom Lane, behind the Davis Park Community Center.

Global Lex was delighted to join the launch and induction ceremony of the Liberian Community of Central Kentucky!

We were honored to provide remarks during the event and are so excited for the roughly 125 community members in attendance and for our community at large. Congratulations to the new leadership and elected officers, and to the entire Liberian American community of Lexington! 💛

What a weekend for our community! 🎒

We loved connecting with families and sharing resources at the YMCA of Central Kentucky Back to School Rally at Tates Creek Community Center on Saturday, and at the Bluegrass Community Health Center fair on Friday.

Thank you to the incredible partners who come together year after year to make sure our neighbors have backpacks, school supplies, resources, and services as the new school year begins.

We’re excited for the YMCA Back to School rallies happening across our community tomorrow, Saturday, August 1st! Families can pick up backpacks, school supplies, and much more for their students, along with games, interactive activities, and resource fairs featuring service providers from across Lexington.

Global Lex will be on site at both the Tates Creek Community Center and Valley Park locations. We hope to see you there!
