Our next meeting 12/10 concerns human trafficking

Human beings sold into bo***ge and slavery?
It is happening not only here in our homeland, the USA, but also happening in the Rt. 15 corridor, our guest this Monday evening, Dec 10th is Rachel Gordner, RN, a SANE (Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner)nurse with Evangelical Community Hospital, will provide a presentation on human trafficking in the Route 15 Corridor and our area in particular.

This program is presented as non-partisan and is being held to increase the interest and knowledge of the people of our area as to the extensive existence of human trafficking in our backyard. Ms. Gordner will discuss the sources of it, how to identify potential situations, and how to then appropriately respond.

This issue is of tremendous importance to all of us and is not well known. The meeting will be held Monday, December 10, at 7pm, at the Baylor Room, Best Western Country Cupboard Inn, Route 15, Lewisburg. As usual, our program is free and open to the public at no cost.

As is our December tradition, we are asking for donations of non-perishable food and other items that will be distributed to the Eastern Union County Food Bank.

Fred Keller vs. Jennifer Rager-Kay

The Susquehanna Valley Conservatives will host the two candidates for the 85th Pennsylvania Legislative District
Monday evening, October 8th at their usual site: the Best Western Meeting Rooms next door to Country Cupboard Restaurant, Rt. 15 North, Lewisburg.
The meeting will commence at the usual time, 7pm and end at 8:30pm.

The debate features Jennifer Rager-Kay the Democrat candidate in the upcoming Fall election and incumbent Fred Keller the Republican candidate. This will be the only time the two candidates are engaged in a formal debate before the election.

This debate will be conducted on a fair and balanced basis with EQUAL TIME given to both candidates on ALL questions posed to them from the Moderator, the Panel and from the Audience.

This debate is especially timely given the sharp political differences that exist on a national, statewide and local basis, from Conservative to Liberal/Progressive. The candidates are expected to differ widely on how the people of Union and Snyder Counties may be represented in Harrisburg.

You are welcome to attend this free and open Forum/Debate.

YOU RE INVITED to our free and open to the public meeting TONIGHT - Monday, April 9th, 7–8:30 pm.

This Monday evening, we deal with several pending lawsuits. The first is the overreach of Governor Tom Wolf, attempting to force home care workers into a Union. This one is before the U.S. Supreme Court.

The second case is the overreach of the State Teachers union, PSEA, forcing Greg Hartnett and several other public school teachers to pay dues and join their Union. Hartnett and fellow teachers currently have this matter before the Pennsylvania courts.

Greg Harnett, a Pennsylvania public school teacher says “ I should not be forced to fund a private politically active organization just to do what I love”.
Our guest speakers include two attorneys from the Fairness Center who are pursuing these matters on behalf of their clients. This will be a meeting to remember!

The Fairness Center will be represented at the meeting by David Osborne, President and General Counsel; Nathan McGrath, Vice President and Litigation Counsel; and Conner Drigotas, Director of Communications and Outreach.

Please support us and join us for this meeting, Monday, April 9th, 7–8:30 pm, Best Western Meeting Rooms, next door to Country Cupboard, Rt. 15 north, Lewisburg.

We have confirmations from Laura Ellsworth, Pittsburgh attorney and Paul Mango, West Point/Army officer retired, also from the Pittsburgh area. We have also extended an invitation to Pennsylvania State Senator Scott Wagner from the York, Pa. area.

Susquehanna Valley Conservatives to host Congressman Tom Marino

Susquehanna Valley Conservatives is pleased to announce that they will be hosting Congressman Tom Marino (PA-10) on January 15, 2018. The meeting will be from 7pm to 8:30pm at the Baylor Conference Rooms, Best Western Inn, next door to Country Cupboard Inn, Rt. 15 North, Lewisburg.

**Please note change in usual date from second Monday of the month to third Monday of month, just for January, 2018.**

2018 will be a vital year for our country and for Congress. 2017 ended with conservative momentum on issues like tax cuts, and the start of the new year will see a variety of issues in play in Washington. Added into all this is the fact that the elections in November will loom large, and the opposition will continue to no doubt manufacture their own narrative of events.

This will be a great chance to hear from Congressman Marino on topics such as the Tax Bill, the first year of President Trump, the world wide terrorist movement and other issues important to our District.

10th Congressional District - Tom Marino

Pennsylvania's 10th congressional district, located in central and northeastern Pennsylvania, includes Bradford County, Juniata County, Lycoming County, Mifflin County, Pike County, Snyder County, Sullivan County, Susquehanna County, Union County, Wayne County, and portions of Perry County, Tioga County, Lackawanna County, Monroe County, and Northumberland County.

Susquehanna Valley Conservatives Monthly Meeting

Topic: State of the Economy: The Impact of the Gaming Industry in Pennsylvania

When: Monday December 11, 2017 at 7:00 PM

Where: Best Western Country Cupboard Inn, north of Lewisburg along Route 15

Who: Tom Sheehan, PA Family Institute

Tom Sheehan is a representative of the Pennsylvania Family Institute in Harrisburg, the largest conservative organization in the state focused primarily on defending families. Did you know that Pennsylvania is already the nation’s second largest casino state? Did you also know that Governor Wolf and the General Assembly approved further expansion of that in October? To learn the state and local impact on us in the Central Susquehanna Valley, please come to listen to and ask questions of Mr. Sheehan.

The Mission of the Pennsylvania Family Institute is to strengthen families by restoring to public life the traditional, foundational principles and values essential for the well-being of society. They are the only full-time, professionally staffed non-profit organization representing family values in the state capitol. They encourage responsible citizenship and involvement in civic affairs to promote respect for life, family, marriage and religious liberty.

As we have done the last few years, SVC will be accepting your gift of non-perishable food at this meeting to then share with the local food bank. We as conservatives have much to be grateful for this year—please consider sharing a bit more in this effort.

Susquehanna Valley Conservatives Monthly Meeting
An Army Chaplain’s Perspective on Military Service and Veterans with Reverend/Captain James May

When: Monday Nov 13, 2017 at 7:00 PM

In conjunction with Veteran’s Day (Sunday November 11) Susquehanna Valley Conservatives is honored to host retired Army Chaplain James May.

Chaplain/Captain May offers a very unique perspective on the price that has been paid for our nation’s freedom. Born in DeWitt Army Hospital at Fort Belvoir, VA he has been a “military brat” most of his life. From 1999 to 2006 he had the honor of serving as an officer and chaplain in the United States Army. During his last three years on active duty, Chaplain (Cpt) May had the very unique privilege of serving in Iraq with the soldiers on the front lines; at Walter Reed Army Hospital with soldiers who had been injured in war; and at Arlington National Cemetery for those who made the ultimate sacrifice for our nation and our freedom.

Chaplain/Captain May has one brother who is an army doctor and another who is an army signal officer. All three are Iraq War Veterans. His father, who was serving as the Senior Army Chaplain at Arlington National Cemetery on September 11, 2001 recently retired from active duty with the rank of colonel.

In 2006 James moved back to northeastern Pennsylvania where he lives with his wife, Jill, and three children. His oldest son is currently serving in the Pennsylvania National Guard. In 2009, he served as the campaign manager for Sam Rohrer, candidate for governor. In the 2010 general election, James served as the Director of Conservative Outreach for Governor Tom Corbett, overseeing the outreach to all the Faith, Family and Freedom Coalitions.
In 2011, after serving on the governor's inaugural committee, he was recommended by Governor Corbett for his current position as the regional Community Relations Coordinator for the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation.

Please plan to attend, not only to hear Chaplain May’s presentation, but also to show your support for all veterans and active duty military personnel.

Topic: Capital Update (Please be sure to read the note below)

When: Monday May 8, 2017 at 7:00 PM

Where: Best Western Country Cupboard Inn, north of Lewisburg along Route 15

Who: State Representative Fred Keller

Fred Keller represents the 85th district in the House of Representatives in Harrisburg.
The 85th district covers Union and Snyder Counties.

It’s budget time in Harrisburg. Representative Keller will bring us news about budget negotiations as well as other timely legislative issues including liquor privatization and legislation aimed at ending the union practice of having teachers whose salaries are paid by taxpayers do no teaching, instead they work full-time for their union on union business. This is especially prevalent in the Philadelphia area.

Fred will also discuss other current legislation before the General Assembly.

As an announced candidate for Tom Marino’s federal House of Representatives seat, Fred will also discuss the process involved in seeking that seat as well as items that would be of importance to him if elected.

NOTE: Monday May 8 it a legislative session day in Harrisburg. Senators and Representatives don’t know when their work on ‘session days’ will end so it is possible that Fred may be late or unable to attend at all.

If that is the case, Susquehanna Valley Conservatives will show a film entitled 'Where the Grass is Greener: Biblical Stewardship vs. Climate Alarmism'. The film is a one-hour documentary that calls upon the expertise of over 30 world-class scholars in climate science; developmental, environmental, and energy economics; and theology, ethics, and public policy to address global warming from a biblical perspective to protect the world's poor from harmful climate and energy policies.
