We are thrilled to have co-hosted the Region Three East Democratic Women's gathering at the timeless beauty, the Hollerwood House.

On Friday, the West Virginia Federation of Democratic Women’s District Three East held a gathering at the gorgeous Hollerwood House, co-hosted by the Greenbrier County Democratic Women's Club and the Summers County-based Three Rivers Democratic Women.

The event brought together over sixty attendees from Fayette, Greenbrier, Mercer, Monroe, Nicholas, Raleigh, Summers, and Wyoming counties.

In this beautiful setting, community members enjoyed each other’s company, formed new connections, and shared values, strengthening local networks and discussing issues affecting
their communities.

In addition to community members, local and statewide candidates, Christina Baisden, Christy Cardwell, Randa4WV Faulkner, Vince George, Kent Gilkerson, Sarah Morris, and Sarah Umberger attended the gathering. This provided an opportunity to learn about the candidates’ stances on critical issues within the region.

The West Virginia Federation of Democratic Women, an all-volunteer organization, unites county Democratic Women's clubs together for the success of the Democratic Party and its
candidates.

More waste and fraud thanks to Governor Morrisey:

"A controversy unfolded on Facebook last week when a trampoline park posted that it was now an “official Hope Scholarship provider.” Parents across the political spectrum — including Hope Scholarship families — expressed outrage (not necessarily at the business, which I won’t name here), but at taxpayer dollars budgeted for education going to a trampoline park when they see so many needs in their schools and communities going unaddressed.

"And it isn’t just trampoline parks: Approved Hope Scholarship vendors include 24-hour gyms, dance schools, providers of golf lessons, professional photographers, and companies that sell virtual reality (VR) headsets. All while the public schools that serve 85% of our children statewide are losing art and music programs, eliminating bus routes and extracurricular activities, or closing their doors altogether as public school funding needs remain unaddressed while the Hope Scholarship’s costs skyrocket."

This is OUTRAGEOUS!

"Gov. Patrick Morrisey is mulling over giving up to $16 million dollars of West Virginia’s federal anti-poverty grant to Star Academy, a for-profit education company that is supposed to help struggling middle-school students. At the same time, the governor has warned that he may have to cut funding to programs that help poor children access school clothes and food.

"Star Academy CEO John Alvendia donated nearly $42,000 to Morrisey’s campaign and affiliated political action committees, as first reported by the Wall Street Journal in April. Star Academy is based in New Orleans."
