Mayor Alison Dennington has been appointed to two Florida League of Cities committees for the 2025-2026 season: the Federal Action Strike Team (FAST) Committee and the Advocacy Committee.

The Federal Action Strike Team (FAST) Committee was created in support of the League's strategic plan objective to strengthen its federal relations. The primary purpose of this committee is to establish proactive and reactive communications with Florida's 30-member congressional delegation in support of federal municipal policy. The committee will take its policy positions and direction from the League's resolutions and the National League of Cities (NLC) policy priorities, as well as from the officers and Florida League of Cities Board.

The Advocacy Committee is responsible for building support amongst the League membership and the Legislature for the legislative priorities adopted by the membership of the Florida League of Cities. Additionally, the Advocacy committee is responsible for making direct contact with state elected officials to advocate the FLC Legislative Platform and other emerging issues as well as providing municipal data to bolster Leagues' lobbying initiatives.

Starting next week, I plan to start some additional Mayor’s hours in the evenings subject to Town Hall availability to try to get info out you on this, answer questions and have discussions what to expect and how it will or may impact our Town in the long run. Stay tuned.

None of the proposals allow cuts to law enforcement funding, and all exempt school taxes.
