* At 1144 PM CDT, a severe thunderstorm was located near Lawton, or 9
miles east of Sioux City, moving east at 25 mph.

HAZARD...60 mph wind gusts and quarter size hail.

IMPACT...Hail damage to vehicles is expected. Expect wind damage
to roofs, siding, and trees.

We will have a disaster case advocate at the Kingsley, IA City Hall tomorrow (5/21) from 11a-7p to help with any questions people may have regarding the storm damages they received from the storms. These individuals are available for anyone in Plymouth or Woodbury Counties to get assistance with the Disaster Case Advocacy or Individual Assistance.

An event has been created to make help serve as a reminder.

Governor Reynolds has signed the disaster declaration for this past weekend's storm. We are coordinating with Homeland Security to have a person in Kingsley to assist in applying for the Individual Assistance and Disaster Case Advocacy. We will update once a date is confirmed for this. In the meantime, you can call or sign up online.

Gov. Reynolds issued a disaster proclamation for Emmet, Hancock, Palo Alto, Plymouth, Pocahontas, Winnebago, Woodbury, and Worth Counties in response to severe weather that occurred on May 15, 2026, and continuing.

The Iowa Insurance Division Fraud Bureau will be in Kingsley tomorrow from 8:30am - 6pm to help residents with any insurance issues. They will also have some officers going door to door and may leave literature to help. If you aren't home or unable to stop by their trailer at the community center, please call 515-654-6600 or stop by Kingsley City Hall as they will have some pamphlets as well.

Everyone needs to be mindful of equipment at the city dump. We understand everyone is stressed and trying to get stuff cleaned up but safety needs to come first. Please be courteous and cautious when coming in and leaving the city dump.
Tommorow will be the last day that GoServ Global will be in town, if you still need assistance at your residence, please come to the Kingsley Fire Station to get signed up or call (BARB- 712-283-2304). Please be signed up by 10 am tomorrow May 20th.
Tommorow at 8:30 am, Iowa Insurance Division-Fraud Bureau, will be at the old fire station/community center to assist anyone needing to reach their insurance company. They are here to protect people from fraud and get you the help you need.
The city dump will be closing at 5pm May 19, will open tomorrow at 8:30 am.
Any of the trucking companies staying overnight, please park in the gravel by the community center.
Due to many trucks traveling up south main and other streets, we are asking that no vehicles are being parked on the street. IF YOU HAVE A VEHICLE PARKED ON THE STREET, PLEASE MOVE IT.
**NO OPEN BURNING IN TOWN**

There will be dumpsters at the community center parking lot for storm damage materials.

2 Dumpsters for Wood
These will be watched and any illegal dumping will be cited.
