PUBLIC INVITED TO COURTHOUSE COURTROOM RENOVATION PRESENTATION

A newly restored piece of Lawrence County history will be the focus of a special public gathering later this month at the Lawrence County Courthouse.

The Lawrence County Historical Society of Illinois is inviting the community to attend a program on Monday, April 27, at 7 p.m. highlighting the recent renovation of the courthouse courtroom in Lawrenceville.

The courtroom, located on the building’s second floor, had not undergone major renovation work in roughly six decades before the recently completed project.

Lawrence County Circuit Clerk Cheryl Winkles will lead the evening’s program and discuss the restoration effort. Attendees will also be able to view a PowerPoint presentation covering the renovation process and other noteworthy details connected to the project.

Organizers say the event is free of charge and open to anyone interested in local history, architecture, or the preservation of county landmarks.
