For our quarterly in-person All Staff meeting, the team stepped away from our office and shelters and into the trees. 🌲 We had the incredible opportunity to practice forest bathing, beautifully guided by Shannon Gorres with Divine Nature Therapy.

As advocates, learning diverse ways to care for ourselves is essential to sustaining the work we do. We left the woods feeling rebalanced, reconnected, and ready for what’s next. 💚

Thank you, Shannon, for helping us to find new ways to ground and care for ourselves!

👯‍♀️ Did you catch these two baddies at Pride this past Saturday?

Sporting their official “Free Grandma Hugs (With Consent)” shirts, these two incredible humans handed out flags and shared some much-needed unconditional love.🏳️‍🌈

They also happen to be the moms of two of our own team members: Adrianne Nuñez, our Director of Communications (hi, that’s me👋🏼), and Jenna Wilcox, our Grants Manager.

Our moms have been friends for several years, brought together by our dads. Our dads originally met when my dad retired from Hallmark and started delivering medication for Round Corner Pharmacy, which was owned and operated by Jenna’s dad.

So, just a couple of (the many) Lawrence townies who care deeply for our community, helping to hold things down here at the Willow.

💜 Thank you so much to our mommas for everything they do, and thank you to our community for helping to support the Willow!

At The Willow, we know that "family" is built on support, safety, and care. Today, we want to honor all the women who provide that foundation. 💐

From the neighbors who check in to the big sisters who protect, motherhood is a community effort. We are so grateful for the diverse ways women lead with love.

Happy Mother's Day to all of the:

Grandmothers & Stepmothers

Aunties & Big Sisters

Teachers & Mentors

And the "Moms" we chose for ourselves

How are you celebrating the influential women in your life today?

A big shoutout to The Pretzelly Truck for donating their handmade pretzels to the Willow Domestic Violence Center here in Lawrence! It takes a community to support a community, and this kind of generosity means the world to those at Willow. If you haven't tried their hand-rolled soft pretzels yet, now you have even more reason to support this wonderful women-owned local business.
