A huge shout-out and thank you to DJ Transit for providing rides for for our clients and giving them the means to get to doctors appointments and interviews. This is an amazing agency and I’m not sure what we would do without them.

Good afternoon everyone!
We are always so grateful for donations to our thrift store. Because you donate we are able to provide clothing to our Shelter Residents, and people who need clothing due to a variety of reasons like house, fires, domestic violence, and other personal issues. We are able to give furniture to people displaced by fires or relocating due to domestic violence or homelessness. the money that we raise from the thrift store also stays in Laurel and helps us to keep our Shelter doors open, we simply could not do what we do without all of your donations.
However, lately we’ve run into a problem where people are donating bags of clothing outside the fence of our thrift store on the sidewalk. And then people are coming and opening the bags and going through them and leaving clothing scattered on the sidewalk. We are really trying to be good neighbors, and the mess that we have had weekend after weekend does not get us very far on becoming neighbors anybody would be proud to have.
We are asking for your help. If you bring a donation after hours, please bring it to the parking lot where our office and shelter are located; there’s a Salvation Army box truck parked in the back of the property and you can leave your donations outside of the box truck..
This way it stays contained, and staff can get to it sooner. It will also deter people from going through them before we can get them in the store and on the shelves.
We appreciate all your help.
We know we have a ways to go with being the best neighbors that we can be, but in this way, you can help us to work towards achieving that goal. We simply can’t do it alone- and we have already seen that Laurel Mississippi is the most generous and supportive place to be!
