Just a reminder: The majority of the Laurel city council and the mayor did not offer support to the citizens to protect 16th Ave from the MDOT plan to place concrete barriers in the center for 3.5 miles. Thanks again to: - The Jones County Board of Supervisors,
- Senators Juan Barnett and Robin Robinson and former Senator Chris McDaniel.
- Representatives Omeria Scott and Donnie Scoggin.
- And current Southern District Commissioner, Charles Busby.

It was great meeting with the MDOT Southern District Commissioner, Charles Busby, who came to address members of the 16th Avenue Committee.

Thanks to our State Delegation Donnie Scoggin, Omeria Scott, Robin Robinson, and Juan Barnett for your help.

Thanks to Phil Dickerson and the Jones County Board of Supervisors for your letters and hosting a community meeting for taxpayers to have input and impact on this project.
Thanks to all of the Fire Department, EMT, and Law Enforcement officials that expressed concern.

Thanks to city councilman, Kevin Kelly.

Thanks to all the volunteers and especially those students from the Southeastern Baptist College who gathered the signatures of thousands of people.

And to everyone who expressed your views and concerns.

The Safety concerns on 16th Avenue will be addressed without a 3 mile center lane barrier from the interstate to the city limits. I’m looking forward to the continued growth of Laurel, Mississippi and Jones County Mississippi Local News.

The MDOT plan does not address over 70% of the accidents used in their data. This project is a waste of taxpayer money.
