TAKING ACTION

After neighbors reached out, our officers were out near Carey and Lamb today addressing community concerns. From abandoned vehicles to RVs parked on public streets, we’re listening — and we’re taking action.

This enforcement will continue. Vehicles that shouldn’t be on our roads will be tagged and towed.

Traffic crashes have claimed 19 lives in LVMPD’s jurisdiction in 2026.

Since Friday:
⚠️ A pedestrian in a crosswalk killed by an RV
⚠️ A speeding motorcyclist killed when a vehicle turned into his path
⚠️ A pedestrian outside a marked crosswalk hit by a motorcyclist. The motorcycle rider was ejected and suffered critical injuries
⚠️ A motorcyclist killed this morning after hitting a median

The top causal factors for deadly crashes remain the same: Failure to yield right of way, pedestrian error and excessive speed.

Compared to last year, however, traffic related fatalities are down more than 35 percent.

PLEASE. Slow down and pay extra attention. Don't drive impaired. Your life and the lives of those around you depend on it.

🚨 THIS IS HOW SEXTORTION STARTS 🚨

It begins with a message. A compliment. A request to move to another app.

Then this happens. A stranger pressures a young person into sending a private photo,
then demands money or threatens to send the image to friends and family.

💔 Kids panic.
💸 They pay.
📲 The demands don’t stop.

This crime is called financially motivated sextortion — and it is happening to teens across the country right now and in our community.

🚩 Warning signs parents should watch for:

Sudden anxiety or withdrawal
Panic after being online
Secretive behavior about phones
Requests for money or gift cards

🛑 What to tell kids RIGHT NOW:

✔ STOP responding
✔ DO NOT pay
✔ BLOCK the account
✔ TELL a trusted adult immediately

No child is ever to blame for being manipulated online. Offenders rely on fear and shame to keep victims silent.

Talk early. Talk often.
One conversation could save a life.

WE WARNED YOU!

But some people still made the wrong choice. We took 42 impaired drivers off our roads before they could hurt themselves or others.

All 10 of our Area Commands teamed up with Clark County School District Police, UNLV Police, Las Vegas City Marshals, and Nevada State Police Highway Patrol for this Super Bowl DUI Blitz.

We are saddened to share the passing of K9 Tony, a 10-year-old Dutch Shepherd who faithfully served our community throughout his career.

Alongside his handler, Tony supported Patrol, SWAT, and several specialized units, playing an important role in countless operations and contributing to the safety of our officers and the public. His drive, loyalty, and work ethic represented the very best of our K9 program.

Tony passed away due to medical complications. His dedication and service will not be forgotten, and he will always be remembered as a valued partner and protector.

Our thoughts are with his handler and everyone who had the privilege of working alongside him.

Citizen of the Month!

Congratulations to Downtown Area Command Captain Adam Seely for being recognized as Citizen of the Month by Councilwoman Olivia Díaz!

Captain Seely has been with the Downtown Area Command for two years. During his time, he's helped crack down on copper theft, spearhead neighborhood cleanups, and strengthen safety across Downtown Las Vegas. With now being called "Mr. February" for gaining this new title, Captain Seely says his officers don't police in the community, but rather with the community.

Congratulations, Captain Seely!

TOP CRASH INTERSECTIONS – JANUARY 2026

These are the 50 intersections in our jurisdiction with the highest number of crashes last month. Our department is focused on saving lives and making the roads safer for everyone.

Some of top citations issued in January:

❌ Speeding (11–20 MPH over the limit)
❌ Disobeying a steady red signal
❌ Driving without a valid license, insurance, or registration

Speed remains a leading factor in deadly crashes. Driving dangerously and illegally puts everyone on the road at risk.
