Over the weekend, participated in the 28th annual Chandler Tactical Competition hosted by . As always, the event was exceptional and our Explorers and Advisors had a fantastic time. These Explorers spent two days competing against multiple other Explorer and Cadet posts in a myriad of team and individual scenarios. Each scenario was harshly graded and only the best of the best had the honor of bringing home a victory. Our Explorers participated in thirteen events and placed in four:

1st Place - Bus Assault
1st Place - Truck Pull
2nd Place - Tactical Emergency Medicine
2nd Place - Crisis Negotiations

We are so proud of everything they’ve accomplished. This could not have been done without the support and dedication from our Explorers at home, that unfortunately couldn’t make the journey. Thank you to everyone that helped us along and please join us in congratulating our Explorers on their hard work and accomplishments!

Congratulations Officer Talavera on making it from

Officer Talavera started his career in public service as an LVMPD Explorer and Intern. As an LVMPD Intern, Officer Talavera worked in LVMPD’s Victim Services Section, where he offered resources and assistance to victims of domestic violence. As an Explorer, Officer Talavera participated in ride alongs which drove his passion to one day be a police officer. After aging out of the Explorer Program, Officer Talavera was hired as a part-time Vehicle Service Worker while he finished his Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice. Shortly after commencement, Officer Talavera entered the Police Academy, as part of Academy Class 06-2025. Today, Officer Talavera earned the honor of Distinguished Recruit and had his badge pinned by his sister, also an Officer with LVMPD.

Congratulations to Officer Talavera and Academy Class 06-2025 on this amazing accomplishment!

Congratulations to Officer Morris, Officer Reyes, Officer Valdez, and Officer Whetstone on making it from !

Officer Morris, Officer Reyes, Officer Valdez, and Officer Whetstone were once LVMPD Explorers and recently graduated the Police Academy as part of Academy Class 01/2025. Officer Morris graduated as the class Top Shot and Officer Whetstone graduated as Squad Leader for 5th Squad.
