This is the third federal agent shooting in Minneapolis — and the second deadly incident this month.

No community should have to live in fear of those tasked with enforcing the law. These repeated incidents raise serious concerns about accountability, training, and the lack of de-escalation in federal enforcement operations.
Public safety requires trust, transparency, and respect for civil liberties.
That’s why I’m calling for a full, transparent investigation with state and local involvement.

Accountability is not optional.Protecting human life must always come first.

SEIU Local 1107 stands with the movement and in solidarity with our brothers and sisters in Minnesota who are organizing, striking, and demanding accountability and constitutional protections for all communities. Thousands of workers, families, and allies and young people are taking action — closing businesses, marching, walking out and and calling for an end to federal overreach and systemic injustice.

SEIU Local 1107 condemns the recently revealed ICE memo that would allow agents to enter people’s homes without a judicial warrant — a blatant abuse of power and a direct violation of the Fourth Amendment’s protection against unreasonable searches and seizures.

Workers’ rights, civil liberties, and due process are fundamental. Any policy that undermines these core principles jeopardizes the safety and dignity of working people and their families. We demand respect for the Constitution and an end to policies that harm our communities.✊🏽🇺🇸

"On November 10, 2008, just days after Barack Obama's historic election victory, President George W. Bush did something that White House staff later described as both unexpected and deeply intentional—he personally walked the President-elect through the private quarters of the White House residence, pointing out small, practical details that no briefing book would ever cover. According to members of Bush's domestic staff who were present that day, the outgoing President showed Obama which windows stuck in the Treaty Room, explained the quirks of the ancient heating system that made the Lincoln Bedroom unbearably hot in winter, and demonstrated how to work the finicky lock on the door leading to the Truman Balcony where, Bush said, he'd found his clearest thinking happened during difficult decisions. What made the moment remarkable wasn't the tour itself—transitions always included walk-throughs—but Bush's tone, which staff described as almost fatherly, stripped of politics and focused entirely on the human experience of living in a building that serves as both symbol and home. He told Obama about the sounds the old house makes at three in the morning, warned him that the Secret Service would want to control everything but that carving out private family time was non-negotiable, and mentioned, almost offhandedly, that the weight of the office felt heaviest not during crises but during quiet moments when you realized the consequences of your decisions would outlive your time in these rooms. Obama, who had arrived expecting formality, later told aides he was struck by Bush's generosity of spirit—this wasn't a partisan concession or political theater, but one father and husband helping another prepare for the most isolating job in the world, acknowledging that regardless of their differences, they now shared something only a handful of living people could fully understand."
