San Angelo Veterans

San Angelo Veterans We are now the official page for the All Veterans Council of Tom Green County and San Angelo Veterans. Sometimes it takes back up, to get back up.

We bring together the Veteran Service Organizations to help strengthen the Veteran community by sharing resources, news, and events. We work with various Veteran Service Organizations (local, state and national) as well as with San Angelo resources to get the Veteran, family members in need the help they are looking for. We are also responsible for the Veteran events such as the Veterans Day Parad

e, Memorial Day events, Annual Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners and more! We can assist with burial benefits, claims, employment, and emergency financial resources. We are always looking for more volunteers to assist with events, and we are still looking for Auxiliary members. We promote and highlight Veteran owned businesses locally and nationally. We are proud to be the main POC's for Veteran needs in the Concho Valley, but will not turn away any Veteran in need, regardless of location.

Patriot Day hits everyone differently.

For some, September 11 is a day of remembrance. For others, it brings back memories they’ve spent years trying to carry. For many Veterans, first responders, Gold Star families, and their loved ones, today can stir up emotions that are difficult to explain to anyone who hasn’t walked that road.

So today, check on your people.

Check on the Veteran who went to war because of what happened that morning.

Check on the first responder who still remembers the faces, the sounds, and the names.

Check on the families who carry an empty seat at the table.

Check on the ones who seem strong. The ones who make everyone else laugh. The ones who always answer, “I’m good.”

Make the call. Send the text. Knock on the door. Sit beside them and listen.

You don’t need the perfect words. Sometimes all someone needs to know is that they haven’t been forgotten.

September 11 reminded us how quickly life can change. The years that followed taught many of us another lesson: we still have a responsibility to take care of one another.

We said we would never forget.

That means remembering the fallen.

It also means taking care of the living.

No one left behind, not then, not now, not ever.

Today, remember. Honor. And most importantly, check on your people.

Every year, our annual Veterans Day Parade has grown larger and more impactful. More Veterans and supporters are watching the parade live from across the country, showcasing how we honor and celebrate our service members, Veterans, and their families. We have demonstrated time and again that San Angelo is the Heart of the Texas Veteran Community, a place where gratitude, respect, and support for our heroes are at the forefront.

In the past, the All Veterans Council of Tom Green County (AVC) had to pay 100% of the parade costs out of pocket, meaning Veterans and supporters like you were footing the bill. Thankfully, in recent years, we’ve partnered with the city to have parade fees waived every four years, for which we are incredibly grateful. However, administrative expenses such as insurance and other costs are still paid out of our own funds.

Your support through the Pancake Breakfast Fundraiser on August 15, 2026, from 7am to 10am, at Longhorn Steakhouse will help us cover these essential administrative costs. Any funds remaining after expenses will be dedicated to Veteran assistance, ensuring we continue to support those who have served our country.

Together, we can keep San Angelo’s proud tradition alive, honor our heroes, and demonstrate that our community truly is the Heart of the Texas Veteran Community.

Please join us on August 19, 2026, on Rio Concho Drive, from 9am to 10am, across from the McNease Center, for a historic and heartfelt moment, the unveiling of the "Heroes of the Concho" memorial by Congressman Pfluger and his staff. This powerful monument honors the sacrifice and legacy of the 20,000 WWII Veterans who called San Angelo and the Concho Valley home. Together, let us remember, honor, and celebrate the brave men and women who embodied courage and patriotism. Your presence will help preserve their legacy for generations to come.
