We were in the room at a NUCA contractor event, and Nevada’s congressional representatives were asked some direct questions about the issues affecting the people who actually build Southern Nevada.
We listened. We took notes. And Nevada voters should hear the for themselves.
At a recent conversation with members of our community, Representatives Dina Titus and Steven Horsford were asked about issues directly affecting Southern Nevada.
On development and housing, Titus said “more land is not a silver bullet,” and argued that new development should come with conditions involving affordable housing, developer-funded infrastructure, and water levels.
On continued growth, she warned:
“You’re going to keep building, and that lake is going to keep going down.”
Horsford was asked about the Democratic Socialists of America and responded:
“I’m not here to run for the Democratic Party.”
But when pressed on whether he supports the DSA, he did not simply say no.
One contractor told Congressman Horsford he was facing roughly $30,000 in tariff fees and asked what could be done. Horsford acknowledged that under current law, there was no process available to provide the relief being asked about.
These weren’t hypothetical Washington questions. They came from Nevada contractors, business owners, and the people building our communities.
We appreciate elected officials showing up and answering questions. We also believe those answers deserve scrutiny.
Nevadans should listen, decide for themselves, and hold every elected official accountable.
