Michigan Reward Schools Recognizing Reward Schools and sharing Best Practices. The hard work and effort represent the best of what Michigan schools have to offer their students.

The Michigan Department of Education has identified Reward Schools as part of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act Flexibility application. Reward Schools fall into one or more of the following categories:

* High Performing Schools: Demonstrating high achievement on state assessments in all five core subjects (reading, writing, mathematics, science and social studies; are high on improveme

nt, and are closing the achievement gaps;
*High Progress Schools: Showing significant improvement and sustaining this growth over several years;
* Beating the Odds Schools: Achievement exceeds expectations or predictions based on the demographic characteristics of the schools and students. Sharing this knowledge and experience with other schools across the state that are facing similar challenges will allow opportunities to learn from the Reward Schools' successes. Working together we can raise achievement for all students and close the achievement gaps.
