All we do is win!

Tons of hard work from exceptional individuals across our community behind this well deserved award.

Congratulations to the Mount Clemens Downtown Development Authority on being recognized as this year’s Place Maker Award recipient at the Macomb Business Awards.

Through continued investment, activation, and a clear vision for downtown, their work is helping shape a vibrant and welcoming community in Mount Clemens. Their efforts are a strong example of how intentional placemaking can drive both economic growth and community pride.

March was a busy month, but I’m so glad I had an opportunity to read to students at Seminole Academy, Parker Elementary, Mount Clemens Montessori, and to homeschool students at the Mount Clemens Public Library. Students gave us suggestions on how we can improve the community: more swings at the park, continuing to fix roads, and we were asked to fix Fortnite... We will do our best. Huge thanks to Trustee Shannon King, Christy King, Commissioner McGarity, Mayor Kropp, County Commissioner Antoinette Wallace, and County Commissioner Michael Howard for taking time to inspire students in our community. None of this would be possible without the many dedicated administrators, counselors, teachers, librarians, and parents who encourage reading every day.

Rx Kids is a great program that will make a real lifelong difference in the lives of newborns and parents in the community. I’m very happy that Mount Clemens is getting this transformational program.

🎉 Big news for Mount Clemens families!

Mount Clemens residents will soon be able to apply for support through Rx Kids, an innovative program helping families during pregnancy and a baby’s earliest months.

Beginning April 1 at 9 AM, eligible residents can apply to receive financial assistance designed to support healthy pregnancies and strong starts for babies.

Through the program, qualifying families may receive:
💙 $1,500 during pregnancy
👶 $500 per month after birth for the first 6 months of life to help cover essential needs.

We’re excited that Mount Clemens residents will soon be eligible for this benefit, helping support local mothers, babies, and families during one of life’s most important times.

The owner of the Macomb Daily Building, 7 MAIN, LLC (of Farmington Hills) has continued to show an extreme disregard for the safety of our community. I’m happy to see the City of Mount Clemens taking immediate action to fix this situation using all of the tools at our disposal.

City of Mount Clemens – Public Safety Statement

The City of Mount Clemens has taken immediate action to protect the public by placing barricades along a South Walnut Street adjacent to 67 Cass Avenue, commonly known as the former Macomb Daily Building.

This decision was made after debris was observed falling from the structure, creating a potential hazard to residents, pedestrians, and nearby businesses. The barricades are a precautionary measure to ensure the safety of our community while the situation is addressed.

This property has been a longstanding concern, and the City is now taking an aggressive stance to resolve the issue. The building owner has been formally notified and is being required to take immediate corrective action to stabilize and remediate the structure.

Failure to act promptly will result in legal action. The City is prepared to pursue court authorization to intervene directly, including undertaking necessary remediation or demolition if required. Any such actions will be carried out at the owner’s expense.

The safety of our residents remains our highest priority. We appreciate the community’s patience and cooperation as we work to resolve this matter swiftly and decisively.

We had a productive week at the 2026 Capital Conference! Every member of the Commission and our City Manager were on the ground in Lansing, meeting directly with state legislators to lobby for the funding and policy issues that matter most to our residents.
We also participated in a number of educational sessions:
• Energy Costs: Strategies for long-term affordability.
• Effective Lobbying: Strengthening our voice at the state and federal levels.
• Census 2030: Early preparation to ensure our community is counted and receives the funding and representation we deserve.
I’m returning home energized and ready to turn these insights into action for our community!
