Aging out doesn't end at 18. The gap follows young adults for years.

By 26, young adults who aged out of foster care earn about half what their peers do, and are 20% less likely to be employed (ASPE). 1 in 4 young adults coming from foster care will experience homelessness by age 26.

That's why we're building Waypoint. A real transition needs more than a roof. It needs stable housing, workforce training, and the kind of support that helps an 18-year-old become a 26-year-old with a future.

Here's what we're building toward by 2030.

Forty young adults stably housed across four homes on a Michigan campus. Fifty-plus jobs created — real work, real wages — for young adults aging out of foster care, facing housing instability, or coming from other difficult backgrounds.

Year 1 is housing our first ten residents. Year 5 is proving the model works.

Waypoint Collective isn't just a place to stay. It's a place to grow, to work, to learn, and to begin again.

Some news worth sharing: this week we received the IRS 501(c)(3) determination letter for Waypoint Collective.

We're officially a public charity now — which clears the way to apply directly for grants, partner with foundations, and welcome support from individuals who want to be part of this.

One step closer to opening doors for the young adults Waypoint is being built for.

Why does Waypoint Collective exist?

Just 56% of young adults aging out of foster care are employed by age 21. The supports they need — housing, training, community — sit in different buildings, run by different agencies, that rarely connect.

Waypoint is being built to put them back together. Stable homes. Real workforce training. Hands-on farm education. On one Michigan campus.

Welcome to Waypoint Collective.

A new Michigan nonprofit for young adults aging out of foster care, facing housing instability, or coming from other difficult backgrounds.

One simple idea: homes, work, and community shouldn't be three separate problems. Together, they prepare young adults (18+) to transition into independent, successful lives.
