On 5/16/2026, Ofc. Dykshoorn with the East Lampeter Township Police Department was in the Greenfield Corporate Center monitoring a Girls-On-The-Run 5-K event. At approximately 9:40 a.m., Ofc. Dykshoorn observed a red Chevrolet sedan traveling eastbound on William Penn Way with an expired inspection (4/26). A few minutes later, Ofc. Dykshoorn observed the operator of that vehicle jogging in the opposite direction as the rest of the 5-K run participants causing them to have to move out of his way. He had his shirt off and was waving it around his head while high-fiving participants running past him. Due to his behavior, Ofc. Dykshoorn approached and made contact with the male identifying him as Steven Sturges. Steven exhibited signs of impairment and admitted to consuming alcohol. An investigation ensued which led to Steven being arrested for DUI, Public Drunkenness, Restriction on Alcoholic Beverages (Open Container), Driving While Operating Privilege is Suspended and Driving a Vehicle with an Expired Inspection. Steven submitted to a breath test which revealed his BAC was 0.195% (legal limit in PA is 0.08%). Charges were filed with M.D.J. B. Denise Commins office on 5/20/2026.

ARREST:

Colandreo Gilchrist- (1 COUNT) CRIMINAL TRESPASS (F-3)

On 4/20/26 at approximately 11:22 a.m., a male entered the Mellinger Mennonite Church located at 1916 Lincoln Highway East requesting to speak with a pastor. The male proceeded past the church office and later located church members mailboxes where he removed envelopes placing them into his pockets. Staff members located and confronted the male who claimed he was using the bathroom. The male then asked if the church had any work for him and then provided a false name and phone number before exiting the church and leaving the area. Through investigation, the male was identified as 61-year-old Colandreo Gilchrist who is from the 600 blk. of East King Street in Lancaster. Det. Sgt. Brian Cloonan obtained a warrant charging him with (1 Count) Criminal Trespass (F-3). Colandreo Gilchrist was later detained during a parole meeting, arraigned and committed to Lancaster County Prison.

It's important to remember this! If you reach an intersection where a school bus is loading or unloading students and the stop arm is activated and the red lights are flashing, all traffic must stop.

Even when the intersection is not marked with a stop sign, and even if you are not directly passing the bus, all drivers must stop.

Thank you again to Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) for this reminder.
