📣Brush Fire Update 🔥

Cora VFD crews remained on standby while Verdunville VFD crews worked the scene. Thanks to their quick response and hard work, the fire was successfully contained and extinguished before it could spread beyond control.

We appreciate the efforts of all personnel involved in keeping our community safe.

⚠️ Reminder: Elevated fire danger remains in our area. We strongly urge everyone to avoid any outdoor burning through the weekend due to dry conditions and increased risk of rapid fire spread.

Please stay safe and help us prevent the next call.

Spring Fire Season rules are in effect. No outdoor burning between 7:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Winds and dry air allow fires to escape quickly. Clear 10 feet around your burn site. Never leave a fire unattended. Be careful and help us protect West Virginia. Fires must be attended at all times. Violations can result in fines!

Newer smoke alarms have batteries that can last up to 10 years. You just need to check those this weekend but if you have an older one you need to change the batteries. (And any smoke alarm over 10 years old needs replaced!)
