Still looking to fill out our roster. If you're a solid player and would like good competition, please email me at [email protected] as soon as possible. It's $90 per player. 4 games. Thanks.

The women's tournament of this year's Empire State Winter Games is back on and Hudson Valley/Saugerties is still adding people to its roster. The Games are February 4-6 (that's a Friday, Saturday and Sunday). Women's ice hockey will be played both in Saranac Lake and Lake Placid. Four games guaranteed. The cost is $90 per person. If interested, please email Nancy Haggerty ASAP at [email protected] . As a side note, this is a wonderful area of New York (gorgeous with plenty to do outside hockey) and the hockey itself is very good.

Please share this with as many ice hockey people as you know: We're on deadline to find two more women's ice hockey teams to play in the Feb. 4-6 Empire State Winter Games in Lake Placid/Tupper Lake. The cost is $900 per team (10 skaters and one goalie) and $90 per player after that. Cost includes minimum of three games, plus an Empire State Games jacket or sweatshirt. I think this year it's a jacket. They're usually very cool. Last time was a legitimate winter jacket. In any case, it's a lot of fun and our Hudson Valley/(in recent years, Saugerties) team has been playing every year since 2000. We don't want to see women's ice hockey taken away this year, in part because there's a very good chance it won't be reinstated. Right now, besides the local HV/Saugerties team, Long Island has said it will put in a team. No other squads are confirmed. So please reach out to ice hockey women you know across the state. There is NO LONGER any residency requirement, so teams can come from anywhere. Thanks.

Everyone, the Empire State Winter Games are scheduled for February 4-6. However, yesterday our Hudson Valley/Saugerties team, which (under one name or another) has participated every year since 2000, was told unless two more women's teams sign up by Christmas Eve, women's ice hockey won't take place. This is very short notice but when that was pointed out, some leeway was offered. There are no longer any residency requirements, so teams from anywhere can compete. The Games are always great and we don't want to lose women's hockey from them. If anyone knows of any teams that might be willing to go up in early February to Lake Placid (we usually stay there but most of the women's games are about 20 minutes away), please either contact me at [email protected] or reach out directly to the director and his staff up there. There emails are Keith Clark
Sharon Hanley ,
Bethany Valenze . Thanks!

Very sad to report there will be no Empire State Winter Games in 2021 due to continuing concerns about the coronavirus. Under one name or another, Hudson Valley had sent a women's ice hockey team to play in the Games for 21 consecutive years. We're now looking forward to 2022.

Hudson Valley Empire State update for 2018. Revamped formula for ESGs means only four teams from around NY State are playing. But Hudson Valley will be one of them. Three games on Friday, Feb. 2 in Saranac Lake. If HV makes the finals, we will play in Lake Placid Sunday, Feb. 4.
It's $90 to register to play. That also covers free admission to all events.
This is high-level hockey, although no current or former women's pro players may participate.
if you're interested in playing, please contact Nancy Haggerty at [email protected] as soon as possible.

The Empire State Winter Games will be Feb. 3-5. Women's ice hockey is Feb. 3 and 4 and those teams that qualify will play early on Feb. 5 (in other words, finished well in time to return to lower NY for Super Bowl parties, etc.)
Hudson Valley is looking for players. This is high-level hockey played in Tupper Lake, right outside Lake Placid. It's regional play but there is absolutely zero residency requirement. That means you don't have to live in the Hudson Valley, nor New York, nor the U.S., for that matter, to play for Hudson Valley.
There is a $70 registration fee and you must get your own motel. The perks are a nice ESG jacket and a very high level of hockey. If anyone is interested in playing, please immediately email Nancy Haggerty at [email protected] . Registration deadline is this Sunday and we still need players. Thanks. --Nancy
