Providing easier access to financial information is an important step toward greater transparency and communication. These reports give residents the opportunity to better understand the financial health of our town and see key financial information directly from the source.

Thank you to the Mayor, City Council, City Manager, and staff for supporting this effort and helping make local government more accessible to our residents.

Transparency and communication are important to a strong community, and this is another positive step forward for Laguna Vista.

Last night, I was proud to bring forward my first motion/agenda item as your Council Member, and I’m even prouder to say it passed with unanimous support from both our Town Council and Mayor.

This idea came from conversations with several of our Laguna Vista neighbors who wanted easier access to the Town’s financial information and a more direct way to stay informed.

This motion will require key Laguna Vista financial reports and the Laguna Vista check register to be posted online monthly, while properly removing personal or protected information when necessary.

With all the online noise and speculation lately, I believe the best path forward is giving our Laguna Vista neighbors easier access to the actual financial information directly from Laguna Vista itself. This will allow any neighbor to better see where Town funds are being spent and the overall financial health of Laguna Vista.

This is a simple but important step toward greater transparency and better communication within our community.

Update on today’s Town Council Place 3 recount process:

Volunteers, county staff, and neighbors traveled to Brownsville this morning for the requested recount. After everyone had gathered and preparations were completed, the recount was cancelled by the requestor before proceeding.

To my Laguna Vista neighbors,

My campaign has always been centered on one simple idea: helping make Laguna Vista a nicer, more positive place for everyone.

I wanted to keep residents informed regarding the Laguna Vista Town Council Place 3 election process. I was advised last night that I will not be sworn in at tonight’s Council meeting because a recount of the election results has been requested. The recount for Place 3 is currently scheduled for Thursday in Brownsville and will involve city officials, county election personnel, and other staff required under Texas election law.

I have been informed that recounts for municipalities our size can cost several thousand dollars depending on the process involved. I was also told that a recount request may be withdrawn at any time before the first ballot is counted.

While I remain very confident in the election results, my focus remains where it has always been — working toward a nicer Laguna Vista built on respect, transparency, and moving our community forward together.

Thank you again to everyone who supported, encouraged, and participated in this election process. I will continue keeping residents informed as updates become available.

To my Laguna Vista neighbors,

I was recently asked by the Port Isabel-South Padre Press for a statement following the election. I wanted to share my response publicly so residents can hear directly from me.

One of the central themes of my campaign was making Laguna Vista a nicer, more respectful community. I strongly believe we can disagree on issues without tearing down neighbors or turning local communication into constant conflict.

Going forward, I intend to focus on direct communication with residents and on improving the quality of community dialogue and local communication platforms so they better reflect the Laguna Vista we all experience in real life.

My campaign was centered on making Laguna Vista a nicer, more respectful community. Given the atmosphere of coverage from the Port Isabel-South Padre Press during this election cycle, including attention on personal matters involving individuals who were not candidates, I have chosen not to participate with the publication going forward.

I will continue to communicate directly with my Laguna Vista neighbors and focus on serving the community in a way that reflects that commitment. I also look forward to working on improving our local communication portals and helping restore a more constructive and respectful tone to community discussions.
