Well, the results are in.
The vote was close, but it did not go my way. I lost by just 5 votes, 30–25.
Before this election, I prayed about it and asked for peace with whatever the outcome would be. Because of that, I can honestly say I am okay. Of course I’m disappointed, but I trust that things happen for a reason and that leadership is ultimately about service, not titles.
One thing I am especially proud of is that I put myself out there. Anyone who knows me knows that isn’t something I would have imagined doing a few years ago. Running for President pushed me outside my comfort zone, and regardless of the outcome, I am grateful that I took the chance. I met new people, had meaningful conversations, and learned a lot about myself along the way.
I want to sincerely thank everyone who supported me, encouraged me, asked questions, shared ideas, and placed their trust in me throughout this campaign. The conversations I had over the last few months reminded me how passionate our members are about the future of Chinook.
Congratulations to DJ on his election as President. Chinook will be in good hands, and I look forward to working alongside him and the rest of the Executive Board as we continue advocating for our members, supporting our locals, bargaining strong contracts, and standing up for public education and working families.
This campaign was never about me. It was about making a positive impact, bringing new ideas to the table, and serving our members. That commitment hasn’t changed. I will continue that work as a member of the Executive Board and as a proud union member.
Thank you again for your support, your friendship, and your belief in me. The work continues, and I’m not going anywhere
