Miss agHERculture Pageant week was last week! Spreading the knowledge about the ag industry and spreading the love of what makes our world go round and continue to provide for people all of in more ways than one!
I had so much fun getting the students at Fayetteville ISD from K-3rd grade to come together and take a little challenge in very fun coloring sheets! Each one had a fact or challenge thought for something related in agriculture! Special thanks to my Ag Teacher Amanda Fowler Hunger for helping me get this out and judge them to get the kids a sweet goodie bag!

With last week being my county stock show where I exhibited my Market Steer and Market Lambs it made the week fast and furious!
There is so much importance and what makes our world go round, so many parts and people it takes to keep clothes on you, food in your bellies, a roof over your head, fuel in your vehicle, feed to keep your stock full and healthy and so much more!
Coming in with more than just the coloring contest!

Today we give thanks…thankful for all the farmers who make today happen for the food that is provided to purchase to serve you and your families a Thanksgiving feast no matter the protein on the plate!
Even though it’s a holiday there is not a break in the work for my show animals!

Today my sister and I choose to have beef for dinner, one of my show steers that took months to raise! Having the ability to raise beef for my family is such an honor. Even though my show steer fell short of entering a show ring last season, he fulfilled his main purpose on feeding us!
Did you know that some of the grand champion steers and other livestock more than likely ended up on your plate from the grocery store!?
Next time you see a kid that is apart of FFA or 4-H shake their hand and tell them they are doing a great job!

Some AG facts for yourThanksgiving meals!

🦃46 million turkeys are consumed on Thanksgiving.

❤️Americans consume 80 million pounds of cranberries on Thanksgiving and we produce 841 million pounds of cranberries in a year.

🥔214 million pounds of potatoes and 50 million pounds of sweet potatoes will be purchased for Thanksgiving dinner.

🎃Americans purchase 483,000 pounds of pumpkin for Thanksgiving.

🐖77 million pounds of ham is purchased.

🍞40.5 million rolls will be bought.

My heart and my baby 🫶

It truly is magic seeing your dream come to life! 3 years ago I had a dream and having it become a reality in one of the biggest years for me was truly rewarding!
If you haven’t ever had the opportunity to look through someone’s eyes that sees our world entirely different I truly encourage it! My dream of making the Stock Show world a reality for our Fayette County and surrounding kids and young adults with “abilities not disabilities” all came together this Labor Day weekend and bloomed into truly a unique and heartwarming event!

It truly is my mission to make a change for those who don’t have “every” opportunity given to them in the world of Agriculture a spotlight and to be there voice in an ever changing world! Stock Showing changed my entire life and has given more to me than I ever imagined! Animals give something to humans that is so therapeutic and a bond like no other!

This is just the beginning of the journey for SSR and we can’t wait to make next year bigger and better!

Farmers….they feed the nation…the small ones sometimes go unnoticed! Not enough spotlight goes to the ones who grown on 10 acres or cook in their own kitchen to feed the small communities!
Today was the La Grange, Tx. Farmer’s Market
Did you know that flowers local to your area get pollinated by bees that then get turned into the honey that you eat! 🐝
Buying from a local farmer’s market in your area have huge health benefits for your allergies that help build immunity to pollens!
Farmer’s Markets support seasonal and local agriculture produce 🐝🌻🍓🍑🥑🍌🍎🥔🥜🍇🥒🥕🌽🫐🍄‍🟫🫚🧅🧄🥚🧀🍞
Things that you have to wait to see in the store can come so much faster and fresher from local farmers!
Today I went out to my local farmer’s market and learned about so many vendors that have been doing it for so many generations! I got sourdough bread, canned goods, beef tallow goods which hold so many benefits, baked goods from scratch, fresh eggs and even homemade dog treats and stunning home grown sunflowers 🌻!!!!!!
Next time you head to the store keep in mind there are the small but mighty that are around you that are supporting their families! Support them and support yourself to better, fresher produce!

I can’t wait to highlight each one of these vendors individually and the health benefits they bring to my local area!

Coming from an area that knows flooding all too well, let us come together for Kerr County and help in a time of need! God has laid it on my heart to serve!
My mother’s family is doing a dry clothing drive that we will be helping with and also any bottled water and non perishable food items will be taking in as well! Mom and I plan to head down there towards the end of the week!
My heart goes out to all the families that are being affected by this!
Pageantry is a sisterhood no matter the system! Let us all come together and show up!

I am so excited and honored to be invited to the Round Top Family Library to read a story about showing and overcoming a loss in the show ring and how to have a showmanship attitude this Wednesday at 10:15 in Round Top!
Stick around after the story time to meet my magic man and 3 amigos and get some hands on time with my animals that I love so much! I can’t wait to ignite the spark for all these kids who might have an interest in animals, 4-H and even the Agricultural world!
We can’t wait to bring the book “Sarah Hates Losing” to you!!!
