WE HAVE BEEN MADE AWARE THAT OUR PHONE NUMBER HAS BEEN "SPOOFED" AND BEING USED IN A SCAM. PLEASE DO NOT RESPOND, CALL, OR TEXT ANY UNUSUAL NUMBER. SEE BELOW POST FROM NATIONAL BANK AND TRUST - LA GRANGE. PLEASE REPORT TO NBT IF YOU SUSPECT YOU MAY BE A VICTIM.
🚨 SPAM Text Messages and Phone Calls – spoofing NBT – are making their way around La Grange. We strongly advise that you do NOT call the number listed, text a reply or answer unusual caller IDs.
If you happen to receive a text like the one illustrated below, please be aware it did NOT come from National Bank & Trust, or any financial institution. Legit text message updates, used by NBT, come from an official 5 digit number - not a regular phone number.
🚩 Always do your research before replying YES, NO or STOP to strange numbers. When you get a spam text, your first instinct may be to reply “STOP” in hopes that doing so unsubscribes you. In many cases, the scammers just want a response of any type and by replying, it won’t do anything except tell them your line is a genuine phone number and you may soon find yourself with even more spam messages.
🚩 If you’ve identified a spam text and want to avoid receiving future spam texts, be sure to block the number immediately.
