We’re Hiring! We are seeking a Family Services Social Worker based out of our Greenfield office. In this meaningful role, you will help support Wisconsin families involved in adoption and out-of-home care by:

-Planning, promoting, and coordinating family services
-Providing support and resources for adoptive and foster families
-Conducting assessments, case management, and report writing
-Supporting parenting programs and post-permanency services

20–28 hours per week with regular travel and outreach throughout the region required. Starting pay is approximately $27/hour (based on education and experience). College Degree in Social Work, Human Services, or Education preferred.

Sarah never imagined a case of fraud could put her housing at risk. Living on a fixed income, she carefully managed every dollar. But after fraudulent charges drained her bank account, she quickly fell behind on rent while waiting for her bank to resolve the dispute. To make matters worse, not all of the money was recovered.

Feeling overwhelmed and unsure where to turn, Sarah contacted St. Lawrence Community Services for help. Together, we created a budget and set financial goals to help her regain stability. She connected with local food pantries to reduce expenses and opened an account with a new bank to begin building her financial security with an emergency savings fund. Most importantly, Catholic Charities was able to provide assistance to cover a month’s rent—helping Sarah avoid falling further behind and giving her the opportunity to get back on track. Sometimes people don’t need a handout, they simply need support during an unexpected crisis.

Everyday, Catholic Charities, St. Lawrence Community Services, and our shelter and housing programs help individuals and families facing difficult situations find stability, hope, and a path forward.

-Emergency financial assistance in times of crisis
-Year-round emergency shelter, meals, and basic necessities like showers and clean clothing at the Sojourner House
-Housing support and budgeting guidance
Resources that prevent homelessness before it begins

Starting Monday, June 8, shower and laundry services are available 3 days a week at the La Crosse Warming Center through August. There will be additional dates available in September, but those dates and times are TBD.

Summer Schedule:
Mondays 6 am-8 am
Thursdays 2:30 pm-4:30 pm
Saturdays 10 am-Noon

All guests utilizing these services must fill out an intake packet if you are new to Catholic Charities services. This usually takes no more than 5-10 minutes. All guests are welcome to have 1 load of laundry done for them upon entrance to the Warming Center, as long as you arrive within the first hour of services. A maximum of 6 people are able to do laundry per date. All guests are also welcome to take a shower upon entrance to the Warming Center, as long as you arrive within the first 90 minutes of services. A maximum of 10 people are able to take a shower per date. No sign up is necessary. However, guests are NOT allowed to be at the Warming Center prior to the exact opening times for services.

Congratulations Brittany on the adoption of your niece, Everleigh! While every adoption begins with loss and significant life changes, it is truly a beautiful milestone when permanency, stability, and belonging are established. This finalization was made even more meaningful by the presence of her birth mother, honoring the connections that brought her to this moment and helping to build a lifelong relationship that extends beyond family ties alone. We are in full swing preparing for our upcoming Back2School distribution events starting in July! Thanks to your incredible support last year, we helped over 1,000 students head back to school with the supplies they needed to succeed. This year, we’re aiming even higher—and we need your help to make it happen!

We’re currently collecting:
Backpacks
School supplies
Monetary donations to purchase additional items

Our goal is to raise $15,000 to support local families and ensure every child starts the new school year feeling confident and prepared. So far we have raised $3,525.80 towards our goal!

Today we honor those who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country. We are blessed to live in a country where we are free to practice our faith, and through courage and conviction we have the capacity to produce such selfless men and women. On this Memorial Day, we invite you to honor our fallen men and women, pray for their family members who continue to grieve their loss, and if you have the opportunity to thank those who are giving their lives in the service of our great nation. We will have 3 convenient locations available this summer to pickup supplies. There will also be free haircuts, health screenings, dental cleanings, vision & hearing checks, and well-child exams.
