Krum is a small community located north of the DFW Metroplex with a rich history and deep agricultural roots, once known for its vast wheat production. Recently, the city purchased Krum’s original train depot, constructed in 1912 by the Gulf, Colorado & Santa Fe Railroad. The original depot measured 24 feet by 113 feet; however, in 1963, approximately half of the structure was demolished, leaving a remaining section measuring 24 feet by 57 feet. That remaining portion was later relocated within the community and has now been acquired by the city as part of its effort to restore and preserve this historic landmark for future generations. As part of these preservation efforts, the City also purchased property adjacent to the railroad tracks in downtown Krum. The City’s goal is to restore and reconstruct the section of the depot that was demolished, returning the structure to its original form. The remaining portion of the depot has since been relocated to this City owned site next to the tracks, marking an important step in the restoration process.
