Chief Tony Jay Crisp and members of the Maryville Police Department extend our condolences to the Knox County Sheriff’s Office after the passing of Retired Sheriff Tom Spangler.

𝗦𝗧𝗔𝗧𝗘𝗠𝗘𝗡𝗧 𝗙𝗥𝗢𝗠 𝗦𝗛𝗘𝗥𝗜𝗙𝗙 𝗕𝗥𝗘𝗡𝗧 𝗚𝗜𝗕𝗦𝗢𝗡 𝗢𝗡 𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗣𝗔𝗦𝗦𝗜𝗡𝗚 𝗢𝗙 𝗥𝗘𝗧𝗜𝗥𝗘𝗗 𝗦𝗛𝗘𝗥𝗜𝗙𝗙 𝗧𝗢𝗠 𝗦𝗣𝗔𝗡𝗚𝗟𝗘𝗥:

“It is with sadness that we announce the passing of retired Knox County Sheriff Tom Spangler.

Sheriff Spangler was a servant. After serving our nation in the United States Air Force, he devoted his life to public safety, rising through the ranks of the Knox County Sheriff’s Office before serving two terms as Sheriff.

His decades of service left a mark on this agency and the people of Knox County. Today, we honor his service to others.

On behalf of myself and the entire Knox County Sheriff’s Office, we extend our deepest condolences to his family, friends, and all who served alongside him.

Rest well, Sheriff. Your service is complete, your legacy will remain.”

On this 25th anniversary of September 11, 2001, Chief Tony Jay Crisp and the members of the Maryville Police Department pause to honor the nearly 3,000 lives lost, the bravery of first responders, and the resilience of our nation.
We will never forget the sacrifice, heartbreak, and unity that followed. May we continue to stand together in remembrance and strength.

HANDS FREE TENNESSEE
Paying attention to the road means drivers are less likely to speed and more prepared to drive defensively in case there is a road hazard. Even just holding a phone while driving can be a distraction, and it’s illegal in Tennessee. Focus on the road, for everyone’s safety.

10 Years. It still feels like yesterday, and yet a lifetime ago.

Ten years ago today, we lost Officer Kenny Moats. Officer Moats wasn't just a police officer; Kenny was a friend, a mentor, a loving husband, father, son, friend and a bright light in our community.

While ten years have passed since that dark day, time hasn't faded the memories of Kenny's kindness, laughter, and unwavering dedication to helping others. He stepped up when others couldn't, putting everything on the line for people he didn't even know.

We miss you, Kenny. Thank you for your service, your sacrifice, and your legacy.

Rest easy—we'll take it from here. 💙🖤
