We were honored to be part of the ribbon-cutting ceremony for Hero's Hill earlier today. Hero’s Hill is a community of 20 tiny homes offering veterans who are struggling to find housing a place to call home. Thank you to everyone who made this possible.

Congratulations to Andrea for becoming a first-time homeowner! She joined the Homeownership Program in hopes of providing a place her children could call their own.

“It’s definitely worth it. You’ll have so much support along the way," Andrea said. "You’ll have a lot of guidance along the way. Ms. Styles, if I ever had a question, if I ever needed anything, if I forgot to check in, she was always there, ‘Hey, you need to check in,’ basically my calendar. I know I’m not the only one, and so for her to make me feel like I was special, I really appreciate it.”

Take a look at the work completed in June and July on Transforming Western’s Phases 2 and 4, along with demolition work for future phases.

Phase 2 will include 52 mixed-income units. One building will include a health center operated by UT Medical and space for Knoxville Arts Center.

Phase 4 will include a total of 47 one- to four-bedroom units in three residential structures and an amenities building featuring a fitness center, community room, meeting space, leasing office and maintenance office.

With the support of KCDC staff who gave what they could, we were able to give out more than 700 pairs of socks during Saturday’s Shoes for School! We’re so grateful to be part of such an incredible event held each year by Knoxville Area Urban League. What an awesome day for our community!
