PLEASE SHARE AND ASK THE COUNTY COMMISSION TO SAY NO TO THE REZONING. Each Commissioner's email and talking points are attached. Please be respectful and polite - this goes a long way toward influencing a "no" vote on this unwanted development of 194 apartments.

Just a reminder: please email and/or call each of the Knox County Commissioners to let them know we do not want this development in East Knox County. There has yet to be a concept plan or drawing by the developer, and the community is unsure of what could become of this property. Stop it now before it's too late. PLEASE ATTEND THE MEETING ON JUNE 15 AT 5PM. Over 1,070 people have signed the petition, which clearly indicates that the community does not want this rezoning.

Dear Commissioner [Last Name],

I am a Knox County resident, and I strongly urge you to reject the proposed rezoning on Pleasant Hill Road.

The majority of community members oppose this rezoning because it would destroy our neighborhood's character and fuel uncontrolled growth. To make matters worse, no vision plan has been developed for this area.

Both the 2010 East County Sector Plan and the 2017 East Knox Community Plan specifically called for working with local stakeholders to create a vision plan before making major zoning changes. That has not happened.

Honestly, if this development were proposed in your own backyard, we believe you would oppose it too.

This is a critical time for us to make our voices heard. We ask that you honor the community’s wishes and vote NO on this rezoning.

Thank you for your service to Knox County. We truly appreciate your time and consideration in declining this proposed rezoning.

Community Update
Although our primary focus remains on working with the Knox County Commission to overturn the Knox County Planning Commission’s rezoning decision, we have been advised that the developer will be required to implement all necessary changes mandated by Knox County—and the developer alone will bear the cost of these changes. No taxpayer dollars will fund this project.

For everyone’s awareness: Despite the planning staff’s recommendation to deny the rezoning, the Planning Commission voted to approve it today. So what does that mean now? We need to reach out to the Knox County Commissioners and make our voices heard. I’m deeply disappointed by this outcome—but while one chapter of this fight is over, another is just beginning. We greatly appreciate all of your efforts, and a special thank you to everyone who showed up today.

Please keep speaking out on this rezoning—DO NOT GIVE UP. We have some county commissioners on our side, and we need to keep pushing.
