We join communities across East Tennessee and around the world in remembering our beloved Dolly Parton - a true Tennessee treasure and one of the most honored performers in country music history. But beyond the music, the fame, and the many accolades, Dolly’s greatest legacy will always be the lives she touched through her kindness, generosity, and unwavering belief in the power and potential of children. 💖💖💖
While Dolly’s music made her famous, it was her heart that made a difference for generations. In 1995, inspired by her father’s inability to read and write, Dolly founded 📚 Dolly Parton's Imagination Library 📚 with a simple yet powerful dream: that every child should have the opportunity to experience the joy, wonder, and magic of a book. Today, more than 332 million books have been gifted to children, and her vision has reached families in five countries!
That beautiful legacy lives on right here in our own community through the 📚 Sullivan County Imagination Library, 📚 an affiliate of Dolly’s program. Each month, thousands of young children across Sullivan County receive a free, age-appropriate book from birth to age 5. These books help build home libraries, nurture a lifelong love of reading, and provides an opportunity to dream, imagine, and believe in what is possible.
Thank you, Dolly, for reminding us that kindness matters, that giving changes lives, and that every child deserves the chance to dream a little bigger. Your light, love, and legacy will live on forever. 💖🦋✨
