September 2026 KCS Board Meeting: Angie Marshall, Deputy City Recorder, swore-in Dr. Brandon Fletcher and Melissa Woods, who were re-elected during the recent city BOE election. Mayor Paul Montgomery was also in attendance and presented Dr. Fletcher and Mrs. Woods with a gift from the City of Kingsport in recognition of their service. Melissa Woods was elected Board President and Dr. Brandon Fletcher was elected Vice President through September 2027.

⭐Will Stockley, former Ross N. Robinson Middle School 8th grade English teacher (current Dobyns-Bennett High School 9th/10th grade English teacher), has advanced to the final round of the 2026-27 Tennessee Department of Education Novice Teacher of the Year competition! ⭐

Stockley has been an educator for the last three years. In addition to his classroom role, he coaches cross country and track teams. Having represented England as a junior athlete, Stockley is currently training for the Boston Marathon. He holds a bachelor's degree in law from St. Mary's University and three master's degrees from Milligan University.

We would like to congratulate ⭐Christian Horner⭐ on being named the Kingsport City Schools Chief Technology Officer! He will oversee all technology operations for the district, including all programs, services, policies, support, and programming. Mr. Horner will assume his duties on September 21, 2026, replacing Andy Arnold, who retired at the end of August 2026.

Horner most recently served as the KCS Coordinator of Innovative Learning, where he provided strategic leadership in educational technology integration, professional learning, digital curriculum alignment, and technology planning to support student achievement. With 18 years of educational experience, including six years with Kingsport City Schools, Horner previously served as a middle school social studies teacher and instructional technology coach with Rutherford County Schools.

He holds a Bachelor of Science in Geography from Middle Tennessee State University, a Master of Arts in Education degree from Trevecca Nazarene University, and is currently pursuing a Doctor of Education degree from East Tennessee State University with an expected graduation date of 2028.

Recently, our Dobyns-Bennett Career and Technical Education Culinary students and Chef House teamed up with other culinary programs from across the area to provide breakfast and lunch for business, industry, and education leaders attending the Education to Employment (E2E) Summit in Bristol! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

Our talented crew started the day with delicious blueberry scones for breakfast, followed by an incredible lunch featuring lasagna, garden salad, breadsticks, and cannoli. 🍝🥗🍞

Thank you to our amazing students and Chef House for representing Dobyns-Bennett High School with such professionalism, teamwork, and delicious food!

Dolly Parton has been on our hearts and minds the last few days. 🦋✨ Our students and employees have been paying tribute by wearing their favorite Dolly gear and celebrating the incredible legacy she leaves behind.

Even our youngest of students "know" Dolly because, she's the lady who would send a special book to their mailbox every month... What a beautiful gift and lasting legacy. 💖💖💖

That beautiful legacy lives on right here in our own community through the 📚 Sullivan County Imagination Library, 📚 an affiliate of Dolly’s program. These books help build home libraries, nurture a lifelong love of reading, and provides an opportunity to dream, imagine, and believe in what is possible.
