IMPORTANT COMMUNITY NOTICE – TORNADO WARNING ALERTING

The Kingsford Heights Tornado Siren is currently not operational.

Due to this issue, residents may not hear the normal outdoor tornado warning siren if a tornado warning is issued for our area.
With severe storms and possible tornado activity expected, the Kingsford-Union Volunteer Fire Department will be actively monitoring weather conditions. If a tornado warning is issued or a tornado is sighted in or near Kingsford Heights, our apparatus will respond throughout town sounding emergency sirens to help alert residents.

We strongly encourage all residents to also use multiple ways to receive weather alerts, including:
• NOAA Weather Radios
• Smartphone weather alert apps
• Local news and weather stations
• Wireless Emergency Alerts on your phone

Outdoor warning sirens are only one method of notification, and having multiple alert systems helps ensure you receive warnings quickly.

If a tornado warning is issued for our area:
Seek shelter immediately in a basement or interior room on the lowest level of your home, away from windows.
Our members will be monitoring conditions and doing everything we can to help keep our community safe.
