of Parks, elected to the Town Council in 2004 and elected as Smithtown's Supervisor in November of 2017. Supervisor Ed Wehrheim was born and raised in the Smithtown Hamlet of Kings Park. A decorated Veteran, Wehrheim honorably served two tours in Vietnam, in the US Navy, where he was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Campaign Medal and the Vietnam Service Medal. After serving

his Country, Wehrheim devoted his entire career to the Town of Smithtown, working his way through the ranks from laborer, to Director of Parks, Buildings & Grounds, where he remained until being appointed to Town Council in 2003. He was elected and sworn into the Office of Supervisor in January of 2018. Supervisor Ed Wehrheim has over 40 years of government experience, beginning his employment with the Smithtown Department of Parks, Buildings and Grounds in 1972. He was appointed as director of the department in 1989 and remained department director until his retirement in 2003. During his tenure as director, Wehrheim was proud to have Smithtown's recreational facilities labeled as some of the finest facilities in the State of New York. In his first term in office as the town of Smithtown Supervisor; Ed Wehrheim has prioritized preserving the environment, restoring the parks system and downtown revitalization. He has developed a feasible timeline to ensure the implementation of modern wastewater management, taken a hands-on role in securing new business, cleaning up vacant and blighted properties. In just over three years, Supervisor Wehrheim has successfully renovated and repaired approximately 75% of the town's parks, and beaches. He commissioned an updated Comprehensive Master Plan, which was last adopted in 1957. The Master plan amends the town’s zoning to be more aligned with current land usage, economy and population. The new master plan prioritizes preserving residential neighborhoods & agriculture, creating an open space fund, pedestrian friendly vibrant downtowns and the remediation of industrial areas. Supervisor Wehrheim has successfully reinvigorated the quality of life within the Town of Smithtown while maintaining it’s fiscal strength. Smithtown holds a AAA bond rating despite a global pandemic. This year's Moody’s credit report cites a large and growing tax base and strong, proactive management taken by Town leadership during the pandemic. Additionally, Supervisor Ed Wehrheim continues to focus on capital improvements that result in a boost to the local economy, providing a return on investment for the taxpayer.

Today, we celebrate the greatest promise ever fulfilled. The empty tomb is more than a symbol... it’s a reminder in our everyday lives that faith carries us forward, that love endures, and that miracles are closer than we think.

From my family to yours, I wish you a truly blessed Easter Sunday. May your hearts be filled with peace, your homes with joy, and your days with renewed faith.

I’m not one for gossip… but hearing Lee Zeldin is at the top of the short list for Attorney General… I can’t help but feel a sense of pride thinking about just how far my friend has come.

I remember when Lee had his law practice right here in Smithtown… before Congress, before the national spotlight. We were out there together, knocking on doors, meeting families, and listening to our neighbors, one conversation at a time.

I could boast about his résumé; becoming one of New York’s youngest attorneys at 23, serving in the State Senate, Congress, and delivering results at the EPA. But what truly defines Lee isn’t just where he’s been. It’s who he is.

A Long Island native. An Army veteran. A public servant who shows up when it matters most. Whether it’s helping a family in crisis, answering a Veterans call for help in the middle of the night, or standing shoulder to shoulder with those who serve our country overseas, Lee answers the call of duty without hesitation.

That kind of character can’t be taught. It’s who you are at your core.

If these rumors are true, I have no doubt he’ll be a fierce and principled advocate for justice.

Long Island will always be proud to call him one of our own. I’m proud to call him a friend.

On this day, December 7th, we pause as a nation to remember the lives lost at Pearl Harbor and the moment that awakened the unbreakable spirit of America. What was meant to weaken us instead united us — forging a generation of heroes who answered the call with courage, and unwavering resolve.

We honor those who never came home. We honor those who stepped forward in the days that followed. And we honor every service member, past and present, who has stood in defense of our freedom.

May we never forget the cost of liberty, the power of unity, and the strength of a nation that always rises — even in its darkest hour.

I’m proud to support Rick Torre Jr. for Smithtown Fire Commissioner and want to remind residents within the Smithtown Fire District to get out and vote for him this coming Tuesday.

With 37 years of dedicated service to the Smithtown Fire Department and a remarkable 40-year career at P.C. Richard & Son, Rick brings unmatched experience, steady leadership, and proven fiscal responsibility. A lifelong Smithtown resident, he has spent decades showing up for the community he loves.

I want to acknowledge that there are two other candidates in this race, both of whom exemplify the courage, character, and commitment that Smithtown’s Bravest demonstrate every single day. We are fortunate to have such dedicated individuals willing to step up and serve.

That said, Rick has long been a unifying force — someone who has supported this community, and me personally, with unwavering loyalty for as long as I’ve known him. He originally entered this race uncontested and with the full support of his predecessor, reflecting the respect he’s earned within the department.

Rick Torre Jr is always the first to jump into action — whether he’s helping celebrate community milestones, orchestrating unforgettable holiday firetruck parades, or escorting our state champions down Main Street. From fighting fires to giving back in countless ways, Rick has built a long, admirable résumé of caring for Smithtown.

Vote For Richard Torre Jr. Smithtown Fire Commissioner 2025 on Tuesday - Polls are open from 4pm to 9pm at 100 Elm Avenue, in Smithtown (Smithtown Main Firehouse)

Wishing everyone across Smithtown, and beyond, a Happy Thanksgiving! Today we celebrate the values that make our town so extraordinary — family, gratitude, service, and the strong sense of community that brings us together. I’m grateful for our hardworking families, dedicated volunteers, first responders, and the exceptional Town of Smithtown employees who work tirelessly year-round to keep our community running safely and smoothly.

As we gather with loved ones today, I want to also express my sincere gratitude for the trust you’ve placed in me to serve another term beginning this January. It is an honor and a privilege to continue working on behalf of the people of this great town.

Please also join me in including the two West Virginia National Guardsmen, whom are fighting for their lives in the hospital after yesterdays horrific attack in DC, in your prayers at the dinner table today. May their families have good news and a real Thanksgiving, when they pull through! God Bless and protect them, as well as every service member who protect these United States of America.

Enjoy a well-deserved day of rest, good food, and great company. Have a safe, blessed, and joyful Thanksgiving!

This morning, I had the privilege of joining an incredible team of volunteers and our friends at Heroes 4 Our Heroes to deliver hundreds of Thanksgiving turkeys to our Veterans at the Northport VA.
To everyone who donated to this year’s turkey drive — this is what your generosity makes possible. You helped make the holiday a little brighter for the brave men and women who served our nation.
I can’t think of a better way to spend the weekend than standing shoulder-to-shoulder with my fellow Veterans, our dedicated Heroes 4 Our Heroes family, and the remarkable community at the Northport VA.
Wishing all our Veterans and their families a warm, blessed, and meaningful Thanksgiving.
