The driver of a pickup truck was left dead Wednesday afternoon after colliding with farm equipment while driving on Route 30.

This week VCU Massey Cancer Center and Firefighter Cancer Support Network, Virginia discussed our recent partnership to conduct a study on Virginia firefighters at the Virginia Professional Fire Fighters Legislative Conference. We want to learn more about the cancer problem in Virginia and how we can reduce the number of Virginia firefighters getting cancer.

We hope to present to Virginia Fire Chiefs Association, Inc. and Virginia State Firefighters Association soon to encourage complete particpation from Virginias firefighters.

Emergency services technician positions are dual role, cross trained Firefighter/EMT positions requiring candidates to attain certification in both firefighting and EMS (BLS or ALS as required)

Pay and salary will be determined depending on qualifications and experience.

Full time starting pay of $40,252-$48,981 based on certifications- a county benefit package is included.

We are extremely excited to see these monitors. Not only will they replace what we currently have, but they will ensure that all of the EMS apparatus in the county are running the same monitor. This is a much needed upgrade and we are excited to see what they can do over the next few training days!

Emergency services and volunteer EMS agency personnel are attending training this week on our new Zoll X series cardiac heart monitor/defibrillators, which will be placed in service soon. This equipment, funded in part by a Virginia Office of EMS RSAF grant, provides 12 lead cardiac monitoring and data transmission, cardiac pacing, and defibrillation for our patients and maintains a modern, up to date life saving capability on our ambulances for your EMTs and Paramedics.
