Kim Area Volunteer Fire Department and Ambulance Service We are a small volunteer dept in SE CO, Las Animas County. Qualified 501(c)3 for donation purposes. Our coverage area is 1200 square miles of various terrain.

We operate on donations, grants and ambulance billing from insurance.

We are pleased to share that through the Las Animas County Nonprofit Grant, we were able to obtain an 2 AED (automated external defibrillator) for the local churches.

Strategic placement of these AED’s will help provide timely and critical access to life-saving equipment in an area where response times are longer due to limited providers and response times.

QR Code for the blood drive we are sponsoring June 9th. Please help spread the word. It will be very helpful if people sign up ahead of time so they know how many personnel to bring. We had over 30 donors in 2019, can we surpass that this time?

It has begun! The Winter Storm Warning is in effect until at least 5pm. Storm track has shifted enough that we are now in the zone predicted for the heaviest snowfall (possibly 7-10 or even 12 inches) with strong winds that could create blizzard-like conditions. Visibility will likely continue to decrease affecting morning and evening commutes. Just stay home, mmmmkay??

We are on scene with La Junta Fire Department and Las Animas/Bent County Fire Protection District at MM 28 on Hwy 109 for a trailer loaded with the hay on fire.

Please avoid 109 as visibility is very poor with smoke.
