Join us for Kensington Wildfire Community Preparedness Day!

Saturday, May 3rd, 10:00 am - 12:00 pm. - One Lawson Road, Kensington

Participate in the Paper Shredding event and discover the initiatives with East Bay Regional Parks. The guided walk begins at the Shredding Event site and is led by Wildcat Firewise coordinator Alan Siegel.

This walk lasts less than one hour and will cover the collaboration between Kensington residents and the East Bay Regional Park District to manage vegetation along the community's shared boundary with the park.

An Atmospheric River is anticipated for our region over the next few days. Wednesday, 2/12- Friday, 2/14. Excessive runoff may result in flooding rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations.

Sandbags for Kensington residents are available.

The sandbags are located at the north end of the Kensington Library parking lot (61 Arlington Ave., Kensington).

Southwest winds 35 to 40 mph with gusts up to 70 mph possible. Isolated gusts to 80 mph along some coastal areas such as the Big Sur Coast and Marin Coastal Range. Southwest winds 25 to 35 mph with gusts up to 60 mph possible in all other areas. This watch will span the Greater Bay Area and Central Coast from Wednesday evening trough Friday morning. Damaging winds could down trees, snap power lines, move loose debris, and result in property damage. Widespread power outages are possible. Travel could be extremely difficult and hazardous, especially for high profile vehicles. The combination of wind and moist soils will increase the risk for downed trees.
