First and foremost, I am a Christian and my Christian values guides my actions. I am a lifelong resident of Wayne County. This is my home. I love Wayne County. I have worked hard for the past 6 years working in every way to improve Wayne County for all residents. Economic Development, Safety, Infrastructure improvements have been at the forefront of our progress together. If re-elected I will continue working tirelessly for all of Wayne County to make our home the best it can possibly be for your family and mine.

- Over the course of the past 5 years the county commission has used ARPA resources to install miles and miles of water and sewer lines to homes in the county that have never had reliable and quality water. We have worked with all county Municipalities, and Public Service Districts on water, sewer and other infrastructure projects to improve Wayne County for our residents. There are more projects on the way.

- It is a pretty simple process and system. In Wayne County there are three (3) Commissioners, there are four Magisterial Districts, you can only have one (1) Commissioner per District (primary residence), a Commissioner serves a six (6) year term, there is Commissioner elected every two years.

- So, if a candidate mistakenly or intentionally registers to run for a Commission seat, but lives (primary residence) in a District currently occupied by another Commissioner, they would be ineligible to be seated even if they won an election. The best advice I could give anyone interested in running for a Commissioner’s seat, verify eligibility with the County Clerk or the Secretary of State office and of course be honest about where you reside.

Litter is a problem and no one wants to see it in our beautiful county. To combat the problem, we created a litter control program that has helped clean up ugly trash from our county. Thus far our Officer has made 186 site visits and most issues have been resolved without court action.

The county commission is the governing body of the county. We handle a number of tasks and responsibilities throughout the county. Most of what you see on the news is the bad stuff but you rarely see any of the positive things going on. We invite and want citizens to be apart of our meetings and be apart of the process. What is important to Wayne County residents is important to me.

When a project uses county money it is important to investigate every avenue to save tax payers money. As one example; the third floor Circuit Court redevelopment project, instead of borrowing money to finance a county construction project we were able to identify grant resources to save Wayne County tax payers the majority of the nearly $2,000,000 project. Financial responsibility is one of if not the most important traits of an effective county commissioner.

We strive to treat all of our employees with respect and offer all of our employees the best possible health insurance that the county can afford. Our sheriff deputies put their lives on the line every day to protect Wany County. They deserve to be adequately compensated. Since I have been on the commission the base pay for a Wayne Co. deputy sheriff has increased 42%. Their salaries are not where they need to be but it is much better than it was 5 years ago.

One of the most important issues I wanted to tackle as your commissioner was the EMS system in our county. For over 50 years and by agreement with the Wayne County Commission the volunteer fire stations departments in Wayne County has have operated the EMS system county wide. The majority of the volunteer departments have done an admirable job with the resources available. There has been virtually no state or county funding for the EMS service in our county’s history.

This year is the first time in our county’s history that we have directly funded resources for the EMS service. Our county has purchased 3 brand new state of the art ambulances to be put in service. The county has entered into a contract with Health Net to professionally operate and our EMS service. This will provide Wayne County with a stable, efficient and reliable EMS service for decades to come.

I have run my own business for nearly 40 years. Throughout that time, I have managed people, managed projects and had the opportunity to deal with individuals from all kinds of different backgrounds. To be an effective commissioner you need to have a diverse skill set. It is more than just talking points, it’s about experience and it is about results.

Approximately 4 ½ years ago, the former $32 Million dollar “Heartland Intermodal Gateway” facility in Prichard was on the Joe R Pyle auction site to be sold at auction for pennies on the dollar. I fought hard to keep that piece of infrastructure for Wayne County. This required negotiations between the County commissioners and Governor Jim Justice and his staff for over four years until an agreement was reached to transfer the facility to Wayne County.
With a team of experts we began the process of finding a tenant, we have partnered with the RJ Corman Railroad group that is now generating jobs and significant revenue for Wayne County. I am so happy and proud that the facility is now owned by the Wayne County taxpayers and is being operated by a world class company.
