Last week, KUSD schools celebrated the Great Apple Crunch! Students of all ages crunched local apples straight from Apple Holler, making it a fresh, fun way to celebrate healthy eating and local farms.

KUSD Presents: Phat Phunktion and the 2026 Jazz Festival

Thursday, Nov. 5, 6:30 p.m. – Phat Phunktion

Join us for an evening with Phat Phunktion, a Madison-based, nine-piece American funk, R&B and soul band founded by Bradford alumnus Al Falaschi, saxophonist and songwriter.

🎟️ $10 (general admission)

Saturday, Nov. 7, 6:30 p.m. – Jazz Festival

Our traditional student ensemble concert will feature jazz ensembles from KUSD middle and high schools, along with our “Faculty and Friends” big band, featuring special guests Al Falaschi (sax), Jon Schipper (trumpet) and Nick Moran (bass).

🎟️ $10, with a limit of three per person

Both concerts will be held at Tremper High School, 8560 26th Ave., Kenosha, WI.

Tickets for both concerts go on sale at noon on Wednesday, Oct. 7, at kusd.edu/tickets.

Elementary students and their families are invited to explore the exciting world of STEM through engaging science experiments, math challenges, interactive activities, and more. There’s something for everyone to enjoy as you learn, experiment, and discover together! We'll also provide a light meal.

Five live stations. Real equipment. Real skills. Kenosha Fire Department firefighters explaining the how and why behind what they do. 🧯 🚒

Students in grades 5 through 8 are invited to Operation: Fire & Rescue. This is more than just a fire station tour - this is a hands-on exploration of real fire service! Stations include the following:

Feel the Force: Follow the water from the hydrant to the nozzle. See crews establish a water supply, advance a fire hose line, and experience the teamwork and physical demands behind fire attack.

Search Where You Can't See: See how firefighters search a smoke-filled building, isolate rooms, use protective equipment, and force entry when visibility may be almost zero.

Cut the Car. Protect the Patient: Watch firefighters stabilize a crashed vehicle, manage glass, and use powerful rescue tools to create safe access to a trapped patient.

When Seconds Matter: Explore the medical side of firefighting. See how firefighters/paramedics assess patients, manage airways, control serious bleeding, and prepare patients for transport.

See It From Above and Below: Watch the department drone fly and view its live camera feed on TV. Then see the specialized equipment and search techniques used during dive and water-rescue emergencies.

Each family may register ONE adult and 5th grade - 8th grade students ONLY.
Due to safety concerns, children younger than 5th grade will not be permitted at this event. Also, child care will not be provided due to space limitations, so please plan accordingly.

JOIN US: Families, staff, students and community members are invited to join KUSD Conversations. These sessions offer an opportunity to connect with district leaders, ask questions, share ideas, and discuss topics that matter to our school community.

In addition to districtwide KUSD Conversations sessions, each KUSD school will also host a school-based conversation. You do not need to have a student attending KUSD to participate — these conversations are open to everyone in our community. These sessions will provide an opportunity to discuss topics and questions that are especially important to each school community.

Congratulations to the Tremper High School Girls Soccer Team on being named an Academic All-American Team by the United Soccer Coaches Association for the 28th consecutive year! 🎓⚽️

The team earned the honor with a 3.48 cumulative GPA, reflecting their commitment both on the field and in the classroom.

Even more remarkable: Tremper is the only team in the United States to receive this award every year since 1999. What an incredible tradition of excellence!

The team also earned the Gold Team Ethics and Sportsmanship Award, which recognizes teams that demonstrate fair play, sporting behavior and respect for the rules of the game.

Congratulations, Trojans! Your dedication, teamwork and sportsmanship are something to celebrate! 🙌
