Fatal Collision

Kennewick Patrol Officers and Washington State Patrol are currently on scene with a fatal motorcycle collision at northbound US 395 and W Columbia Dr. The exit to go eastbound on W Columbia Dr from US 395 will be closed for a substantial amount of time.

Please avoid the area and use alternate routes. This will be investigated by the Washington State Patrol.

🔥 FIRE INVESTIGATION UPDATE

Investigators with the Kennewick Police Department and the Kennewick Fire Department fire investigator have continued investigating the fire that significantly damaged the restroom at Highlands Grange Park late last week.

Based on evidence collected during the investigation, investigators believe the fire was caused by illegal fireworks that were discharged outside the restroom building. Evidence of discharged fireworks was located in the area near the building.

The investigation remains active as detectives work to identify the person or people responsible. We are continuing to ask anyone who may have video footage or other information related to the fire to contact Detective Miguel Ayala at 509-585-4208.

Governor Ferguson declared a statewide wildfire emergency and issued a statewide burn ban in all 39 Washington counties until September 30, 2026. The outdoor burn ban includes but is not limited to the following:yard debris burning, trash disposal, land clearing, w**d abatement, bonfires. The ban does not prohibit liquid-fueled or gas-fueled stoves or grills over non-flammable surfaces that are at least five feet from flammable vegetation; agricultural or silviculturalburning with appropriate fire permits; or campfires on private property or at state, county and municipal parks and campgrounds that are contained in structures such as fire-rings or fire-pits. Please help keep our community safe, follow all state and local fire restrictions, avoid parking on dry grass, properly disposeof ci******es, properly secure all towing chains, and do not use any fireworks anywhere. Staying alert and making responsible choices helps protect our area, homes, and the people who live in our communities. Together, we can all do our part to reduce therisk of wildfires.

POSTPONED
The City of Kennewick's National Night Out event originally scheduled for tomorrow has been postponed due to poor air quality.

Because of poor air quality conditions, Kennewick’s National Night Out event scheduled for Tuesday, Aug. 4, at 5 p.m. has been postponed. The safety and well-being of our community, event partners, and staff members remain our top priority.

We appreciate the community’s excitement and support and will share updates regarding a rescheduled date as soon as details become available.
