It’s been a great weekend taking moments of silence, reflecting on sacrifice, and remembering those that have given it all. Today we continued honoring the selfless sacrifices of those whom are no longer with us at the Emerald Hills Funeral Home & Memorial Park’s and Kennedale Alumni Association’s Memorial events.

Memorial Day is a sacred day.

Not because of barbecues, long weekends, summer sales or veteran discounts, but because freedom has always come at a cost paid by someone else.

For some, these are names etched into stone.
For others, they’re faces we still see in our minds and voices we still hear in our hearts.

Men like Cpl David Helm, and Private First Class Mike Rivers, Marines I’ve served with like LtCol Mario Carazo, SSgt Donnie Gilray, LCpl Hearst & LCpl Willard, and so many others we carry with us in ways words can’t fully explain.

As a Marine, husband, father, and as someone who has walked through both war and loss, I’ve learned something important:

The fallen only truly disappear when they are forgotten.

That is why we gather.
That is why we remember.
That is why we carry them with us.

The greatest way we can honor their sacrifice is not simply by mourning their absence in our lives, but by living lives worthy of what they gave.

So today, this weekend, we remembered them well. Let’s continue to, each and every day, by loving our families deeply, serving our communities faithfully, and by never taking this nation, or the freedoms we enjoy, for granted.

Semper Fidelis. God bless you, God bless our communities, and God bless America! 🙏🏻🇺🇸 🫡

(Special thanks to Laurie Middleton Sanders, Melvin Cooper, Doug Petersen, Christopher Jones, all the community leaders, community members, and volunteers that supported these events and showed up!)

Memorial Day has always carried a different weight for many of us who served. For me, it’s not just a date on the calendar… it’s faces, voices, memories, and names that never leave you.

This Friday, as our community came together through Carry The Load City of Kennedale, I found myself reflecting not only on the Peterson family’s story and Brandon’s legacy, but also on some of the brothers I still carry with me every day.

Men like SSgt Donnie Gilray, whose leadership and sacrifice left a lasting mark on everyone who knew him.

LtCol Mario Carazo, a warrior and leader who embodied courage, service, and commitment to those under his command.

There are many others, LCpl Hearst and Willard, and other brothers and sisters whose stories may never fully be told publicly, but whose impact lives on in the hearts of those who served beside them.

That’s what “Who Are You Carrying?” really means.

We carry their lessons.
We carry their sacrifice.
We carry their stories and memories.
We carry the responsibility to live lives worthy of what they gave.

Memorial Day is not only about mourning loss, it’s about ensuring their legacy continues through how we serve, lead, love our families, and show up for our communities.

Special thanks to Chief Peterson, City Manager Darrell Hull, Mayor Brian Johnson, Kennedale Police Department, Kennedale Fire Department, Kennedale Rotary Club, Kennedale News, Beard's Towing, and everyone else that sponsored and supported this event!

It’s been a busy couple of weeks hitting the ground running, so please excuse the delayed posting to catch up!

None of us get anywhere alone. That’s something deeply seeded in me both in faith and in service. Wednesday the 13th was the swearing in for the City of Kennedale’s City Council.

First and foremost, I thank God for the opportunity to continue serving others and this community. I’m especially grateful for my wife and children, whose love, sacrifice, and unwavering support continue to make this journey possible. Having my family hold the Bible as I took my oath of office was one of the greatest blessings I could ask for as a husband and father.

To the people of Kennedale, and everyone that supported my campaign, thank you for your trust, your encouragement, and the privilege to serve. I do not take it lightly. I’m honored to stand beside this community and work together toward a shared vision and bright future.

There are many to name and recognize for their unyielding support, but I want to give a special thanks and recognition to Kathryn Ruth and Mike Wilson. I couldn’t have done it without you and appreciate the heavy lift each of you carried.

Thank you to everyone that showed up to support us and share the moment, we are very grateful for your presence!

One thing I hope continues long after this election season is civic engagement.

Thank You, to everyone who has stepped forward during the past election cycles. Whether you won, lost, volunteered, supported a candidate, or simply stayed engaged in the conversations shaping our city it made a difference! Communities are stronger when people care enough to participate.

Serving our community does not begin and end with elected office. Some of the most meaningful work in a city happens through boards, commissions, nonprofits, schools, churches, and local organizations where neighbors continue showing up to serve one another.

If you care about Kennedale, your voice matters. Your experience matters. Your willingness to be involved matters.

I truly hope more residents continue leaning in and finding ways to serve our city moving forward.

Good morning, Kennedale!

Last night was humbling.

My heart is filled with an overwhelming sense of gratitude. Thank you to everyone who placed their trust in me, supported this campaign, prayed for our team, volunteered your time, shared conversations with us, and participated in this election!

No matter the outcome, communities are stronger when people are willing to step forward and serve. I want to again thank every candidate who chose to do exactly that. Running for office is not easy, and it reflects a willingness to invest yourself in the future of your community.

I also sincerely hope that the end of an election does not mean the end of civic engagement. Every candidate in this race earned the trust and support of members of our community, and those voices still matter. One of the greatest ways we can continue strengthening Kennedale is by encouraging more residents, including those who stepped forward to run, to stay involved through our boards, commissions, nonprofits, schools, churches, and community organizations. Representation does not end at the ballot box, and our city is better when more people remain engaged in shaping its future.

The campaign season is over, but the work of building a stronger Kennedale continues. My commitment remains the same as it was on day one… to serve with humility, transparency, respect, and a genuine desire to bring people together.

I truly believe Kennedale’s best days are ahead of us if we continue choosing collaboration over division and community over conflict.

Thank you again for this opportunity to serve!

💥Still 3.5hrs left to cast your vote!💥

What a beautiful day to get out and participate in the local election! Couldn’t ask for better weather or activities to do in the community. From Elections, to Bicycle Saftey, Free Comic Books, to Theater in the Park, and a community watch party at Thrive this evening - what more could you ask for!?

Hope to see you all out there!

Over the last several months, I’ve had the opportunity to knock doors, shake hands, answer tough questions, and hear directly from people across our community.

And through all of it, one thing has become very clear:

People care deeply about Kennedale.

I’ve met neighbors with different perspectives, different priorities, and different ideas for our future, but a shared desire to see this community thrive.

For that, I’m grateful.

No matter what happens Saturday, this experience has reminded me just how special this community is and how important it is that we continue finding ways to move forward together.

Two days left.

Let’s finish strong, Kennedale!

🚨Endorsement Alert🚨

Grateful to have the support of David Green.

David has served our community on City Council and has spent years investing in our youth and developing leaders. His perspective means a great deal to me, especially his belief that asking questions and staying engaged is critical to good government!

I’m honored and humbled to have his support and will continue working to serve Kennedale with that same mindset.
