IMPORTANT: tomorrow we will be required to take attendance and check passes, so make sure to bring your passes tomorrow, and from now on.

Tomorrow we will be discussing the Iowa Caucus results and will have another general discussion about the candidates so far. See you all tomorrow!

Also, we will not be meeting this week. Next week (2/2) we will be comparing presidential candidates from the democratic and republican parties. Instead of our usual open discussion format, we will be trying a new format where the leaders provide information, and you will have to try to defend one side or the other with the given basic facts and your own research. As always, observation is welcome, but we hope that this format will provide more discussion. See you next week!

"Since many of you have asked and will be voting in the 2016 election, here are two very reliable non-partisan fact checking websites. These are my "go to" sites whenever I watch a debate or hear a news story.

I've also included the PBS Newshour 2016 election site. It treats/criticizes both sides fairly without all of the screaming and yelling of other 24 hour news networks on any side.

IMPORTANT: SOAR will be taking our yearbook photo tomorrow during club, so be there. We WILL be checking passes, so bring them. Let anyone who comes to club know so that everyone can be recognized!

Also, our topic tomorrow will be the refugee crisis. We probably won't have a lot of time, if any, to actually discuss our topic tomorrow so it is highly possible that we will discuss this topic at our next meeting (12/14) as well. (This is a great opportunity to stock up on information!)

Next week's topic: In the wake of the terrorist attacks in Paris, France, consider the US' role in combatting international terrorist organizations. Some questions to consider: Is the US doing enough to combat terrorism at home? Considering France's high absorption of refugees, does allowing high influxes of refugees inside a country also increase the threat of terrorist attacks?
