Sara McGee for Texas House District 132 Bring common sense back to the Texas Legislature

We aren’t supposed to campaign on abortion rights, especially not in swing districts where I’m running. But something that has existed in the background of Texas politics is getting to a really dark place. So we absolutely have to talk about it.

Many people know that Texas abortion clinics have closed. Did you know that it’s gone even further than that? Do you know that Texas has zero exceptions for r**e or in**st? That if you are a young girl who is r**ed and become pregnant, that they force you to continue the pregnancy?

As bad as it is, it can and WILL get worse if we don’t act in November. Texas Republicans are seeking the death penalty for any woman who self manages an abortion.

This is what evil looks like. These are the faces of men who see women as nothing more than walking incubators. Zero bodily autonomy, zero individual agency, zero rights other than forced gestation or face the death penalty.

Submit to our will or die.

They call it “equal protection,” but it’s anything but. It imparts a set of rights unto a fetus that supersedes the rights of the woman’s body being forced to carry it.

But here is where these absolute troglodytes fail. We already HAVE an equal protection clause in the United States Constitution. And under that clause, you cannot arbitrarily single out one class of people for criminal punishment. The class in this case is pregnant women and the punishment they are seeking is death.

Under their rule, every pregnancy will be monitored and every miscarriage investigated - because they want women or children, no matter their age or circumstances, to be investigated and prosecuted for not carrying a pregnancy to term.

This is the face of evil. And this evil has made it to the Republican Party of Texas’s legislative priority list.

November is coming. PLEASE save Texas women.

Public schools are closing all over the state, people are being taxed out of their homes, entire communities are on the verge of running out of water, and data centers have been given free range to take over our communities at will.

Yet, these are two social media posts from Republicans in Texas today.

So many people don’t understand the depths of the damage that Greg Abbott and all the Republican Texas State Representatives have brought upon this state. We will NOT survive another 4 years of school closures and data center takeovers.

It has to stop NOW. Vote blue in November.

If you’re reading this, I need your support. I am on the fringe target lists for flip seats in Texas this year, which is already a crazy place to be after starting this campaign knowing what a long shot it was.

I have built a well oiled ground game over the past 18 months. The long shot hopes are now ACTUALLY in reach.

This race could come down to an extra e-mail, a few more yard signs, or one more well placed FB or radio ad. And I am running on financial fumes.

Federal races are exciting. Federal races get the dollars, the ads, and the spots on CNN.

LOCAL races are where change happens. So if you see this and you believe that my community deserves my fighting spirit, please consider giving.

$5, $10, $50,000… you know, whatever you’re comfortable with. 😅

Show your support with a contribution.

The commodification of every single public service in America is why we are in the debt that we are in.

Public tax dollars shouldn’t be going to pay the profits of multibillion dollar corporations.

Free market capitalism is an amazing economic structure for products and services where there is actually a free competitive market. Cars. Televisions. Clothes.

But how do you tell someone in rural Texas that only has one hospital within 50 miles that the “competition” will improve their lives? It doesn’t and it won’t. They just won’t have a hospital anymore.

The government is supposed to function as a tool for the betterment of society. Using public tax dollars to send to private companies so they can profit off of human needs IS NOT IT.

I have been in healthcare for 22 years, from direct patient care to the Director level at both for-profit and non-profit organizations. Not only do I have a molecular level knowledge of how to lower healthcare costs for all families, but I have spoken with many, many industry leaders and experts who have shared that Schofield’s office has declined repeated requests for a meeting.

Mike Schofield doesn’t have a plan to lower healthcare costs, nor is he interested in hearing about it.

He does not represent our community. I will.

Tonight! Come out to hear what I have learned as a first time candidate over the last 18 months, how we have already turned these lessons into local election wins, what exactly I mean by “from the ground up,” and why (and how) we WILL flip the Texas State House of Representatives this year.

Hope to see some of you there!

You don’t get to brag about a public school when you’ve done everything in your power to ensure that they are facing generational budget shortfalls.

I’m proud to display our new Freeman High School football helmet at our office in the Texas Capitol. We now have a helmet for every high school in House District 132. Please come by and see them any time you are in Austin!
